I saw a few pics of the hood gap with the GT-4 hood on a USDM and truth fully I kinda like it. It may seem half assed but I just find it attractive kinda seperates the body.

maybe there could be a wider black sealant thing there if you dont want to do front bumper conversion with the hood.

Well... I guess everyone has their own tastes. That gap isn't exactly my cup of tea... but I guess I can see/understand why people would think it's cool... |

Maybe when its on your car you will change your mind. It didnt bother me for like a second, but then i was P.O b/c ToySport gave it to me claiming that it was in an accident thats why the hood and bumper didn't line up. When pretty much EVERYONE knows it should unless its been in an accident to affect the frame. SO this is what i got, hopefully my shop fixes it.

Oh man... it shouldn't look like that bro. I'm not trying to support ToySport (nor will I ever), but they might be right when they said that your car was in an accident. Mine looked sorta like that until the frame was re-aligned. I know that you said you looked up your car's records, but keep in mind that not everything gets reported. I not that my girlfriend's Accord was in an accident or something, but her records came up clean. Well anyway, good luck. I hope your shop figures it out. |

SOOO many peoples' cars on this site have been in front or back end accidents not reported. I can see by the fact that the paint color difference in the front bumper or rear bumper is offf from the rest of the car. It's kind of amusing, because about 1 in 8 cars on this site that have stock bodies have been in accidents, and I can beat 75% of them don't know about it. Mine was, I know that. My front bumper and driver's side front quarter panel are a little off from the rest of my car. It was never reported because when I ran the carfax it din't show anything...plus the fact that it couldn't have been reported due to me getting the car with the driver's side low beam bezel having it's brackets broken. This probably happened in the accident, and when the owner was already paying a crapload to get the car fixed, they decided that the extra 200 or so dollars wasn't worth it when it didn't affect drivability. The dealership didn't even notice, but I did and they replaced it for me for free when I bought the car.
Just really look over your car and the front end. Take off all of your cosmetic stuff, the front bumper mainly, and examine everything. People can be pretty good at hiding stuff like that, but never perfect. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT

Dude, My front and back bumper are both off colored. I doubt my car was sandwiched. I think its just how the paint looks on the plastic. Besides, ANY respecting painter will BLEND colors. They dont just paint your bumper, they go halfway down your fenders and halfway on your hood This post has been edited by Andason: Dec 26, 2003 - 8:53 PM -------------------- i am awesome

The only reason they would have to paint more then the bumper is if the paint is faded or the car is a custom color, otherwise they would paint the entire car, it would look retarded if you went half way up a quarter panel or hood. one reason could be like you said, the paint maybe fades differently on the plastic then it does on the metal which would make sense since the poly-ethalene/Urethane bumpers flex slightly under stress like wind and what not. Another reason could be that the bumpers were painted in a seperate location and maybe didnt get the same amount of coats. |

I have personally been hit in the rear 2 times and the front 1 time. My bumper colors are off and it sucks. I don't thinkt here is alignment problems. What would i look for to make sure there aren't any problems??

Like, I was hit in the front...not the rear, but both of my bumpers were off color. When I got my car repainted last year, the guy that painted my car said the only things that werent repainted were the front and rear bumpers and the roof. And it's nothing about paint looking different on plastic. That shoul have nothing to do with it. Thats what primer is for. Just to let you know, since I painted it, the paint on the bumpers match the paint on the car.
