I'm not much of a neon fan, and I'm not going to go off and do some crazy-ass ricey stuff either.. but I am looking at putting one neon/LED [tube?] along the bottom of the door on both sides, just to accent the interior. I haven't done much research (yet), but I'm curious to see what you prefer, what's safer, less power consumption, easier install.. anything you got as to which is better: neon or LED's. If you have personal experience or have a friend with this kinda stuff, lemme know some details!

Thanks,
-Brian

I use to have red neon tubes in my car, but after people steping on them or kicking them, i took them out.

I install 2 sets(2 leds per side) in my girls ZX2 and they look great!

I would do LEDs instead of the tubes.

I have 2 small neons lighting my gauge cluster and one big one out of site under the glove box, so the light shines out w/out seeing the light. It looks pretty good. Anyway, I think its just a matter of preference as far as the type of light you put in. LED lasts longer and most are made to be able to take a hit better than neons, but i think the light from neons looks better. If i were you i would check into getting some cold cathodes. They last longer than neons, cost about the same, and the light looks really good. If youre putting them somewhere that they may get bumped a lot though, go with the leds.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'm wanting one per side along each lower door panel, possibly one behind the glove box, one in the center box, and maybe something in the trunks (it's a hatch, and the light in the trunk doesn't do ****).

I dont know exactly where you are talking about but I personally think it is tacky to be able to see the tubes. As far as LED lights go, the one time I saw them on a car it looked like rope lighting was installed under the car.

imo led lights would look like crap on our cars. my frined has them on his custom truck and they dont even look that great on that. they are too concentrated in one spot and isnt the concept to have them glow??? its just likd a strip of light. but to each his own. just my .02

I have streetglow tubes in mine... the one under passanger side got snapped, so make sure you mount it high, I think the neo tubes give a nicer glow less single bulb light looks nice make sure they cant see the tube it does look tacky. The only problem ive had with my neo tubes is I find when they are cold sometimes I have to hit the switch to start them leave it for 10 seconds then hit the switch again to get em to start. Its odd, and only happens with a few of the tubes, I do not understand why. I think I have 15" tubes I forgot as of now its in my profile and am VERY happy with them. Zip ties are your best friend for mounting these by the way, I drilled holes and screwed in the one above the petals, and its given me nothing but headaches till i got zipties.
