How do you remove the original spoiler from an 97 st? Does it have clips? I want to remove it to repaint it, its losing its clear coat. On a side note when removing the bumpers front or rear, how long do you wait after disconnecting the battery before removing bumpers? For airbags sake. Thanks

If its a 2 post spoiler on a hatch back.
Open up the trunk, and you haev to pull off the plastic surround, its just clipped in.
Then theres three bolts (10mm each i believe) on each side of the spoiler.
Be careful with the last bolt on each side as your spoiler will be free to slide around, and if you're hatch is all the way open it may slide right off.

When I removed my front bumper I didn't unplug the battery at all and had no issues, with air bags or anything.
I don't think you need to worry about disconnecting the battery.
And If you check the stickies, there isa how to on how to remove the front bumper, and there may be one for the rear bumper as well but Im not positive.

The three-post comes off with two bolts at each end. In the middle, it is attached via a plastic peg that seats in the hatch. Remove bolts and yank on that sucker.

The airbag sensors are on the radiator support, in the front of the car. You don't need to worry about it going off when removing the bumpers. The rear doesn't have any sensors.

But wouldn't that break the peg?
