Ok, so I finally have some time to post this question up!

So my water pump was being noisy. I decided to just purchase the bearings and replace them with the old ones. I got a friend to do this for me and it went well. However, when I turned on the car, It had CEL which happened to be code 54. I checked the fluids and its topped up all the way. The pump IS working since I can see the coolant being moved around and I can put my hand over the IC after a hard drive.

From what I read, the CEL affects power performance. I can notice the difference when the code disappears SOMETIMES. It just pulls so much harder.

So my question is this: I want to bridge the coolant sensor. But I don't know how ;/.





The pictures show the sensor and where to bridge. I understand that, But HOW do I bridge and will I need an extra wire to do it or something? If there are better pics of the sensor that is bridged up close that would be awesome.

I have a friend willing to do it, but he says I should ask you guys for pictures and information since he barely deals with WTA.

How does bridging work?

Any help would be appreciated smile.gif

Have you checked the fluid when the car was stopped?
I used to have a code 54 and looked at the fluid and it seemed topped off but it's like filling a radiator, you have to give it some gas to make the coolant flow, this will make it go down in the IC. If it's fully filled, it shouldn't go down, well almost not at all. That's what did it for me.

Did that as well. It stays topped up. I've been checking it regularly.

you just bridge the connection with a peice of wire as shown in the pic, then tape it in place with some electrical tape.
or, you can cut off the connector and solder the 2 wires together for a more permanant solution.

So we bridged it today like picture number 2 and I am still getting code 54. We also reset the ECU before starting the car up again only to see the CEL come on... I don't know why this light keeps coming up kindasad.gif

dont bridge it.

this happened to me.

bridging it makes the code go away, but it doesnt make the problem go away.

i found later my pump wasnt circulating water, and the level sensor was actually fine. when i went to buy both pump and sensor from toyota i found the sensor costed more than the pump! Dont do it!

anyways, i was effectively running 17psi with no intercooler. this lead to my engine overheating and warping block and head surfaces....

replacing a pump is cheaper than replacing an engine, thats all im sayin...

^ He's right you're not getting the code because your level is low you're getting it because your pressure is to low.
