I really don't think I can get the day off work. I can still head up there on my weekends to deliver your goods but unless somebody decides to cover my shift, I can't get off work.

Simple. Transfer Family Event to Starved Rock. Extended family event!
What's the time frame for the event? You would have to leave the meet before 1 to get there. However, if it's something that won't last very long, you could always go there first, then head over to the meet. We could slightly change the timeline to work around your schedule. 1. Have a quick lunch, hang out, then grill burgers and go hiking when you guys show up. 2. Do the usual routine, grill lunch, hang out, hike, then we all cruise to Chicago to meet up with you and Stacy for dinner. 3. Perhaps a combination of the above.
