So, I had a 5th Gen Celica that I sold recently. I bought it for $3,300 locally and put some money into it. I sold it two days ago for $3,700. I didn't lose too much but I did lose some.

I've been looking for a new car that's cheaper, and I found a 6th gen GT for $2,000 OBO. Here's the ad:

I went to see the car, and it's overall in bad condition, exterior and interior-wise. The engine seems fine with no obvious imperfection. Trans also felt fine shifting into all gears while stationary. I will test-drive it tomorrow most likely.

The only "mechanical" issue it has is some sort of weird, erratic idle/closed loop operation. I have a video of what it looks like, which is here:

WARNING! LOWER YOUR VOLUME UNTIL I GO INSIDE THE CAR.

So, it seems like an ignition/sensor issue. The car turns over just fine, and it accelerates fine as well. It just does what you see in the video sometimes at random. I couldn't do anything to make it do whatever it's doing.

Long story short, it's pretty beat up outside, not so beat up inside, and it's going to cost me $1,500 as of now. I will try and offer $1,300 tomorrow with cash on hand and see what happens.

The A/C works fine, which is always a good thing. It's got no sunroof and no MAJOR rust spots. There's this one rust spot on the trunk near the glass, lower mid section.

It's got 160,000 miles on the fully-working tach.

I'm not going to focus on the exteriors at all. I'll do some interior jobs and will build it to be a decent, safe 5S-FE turbo, with an EMS.

High idle is an easy fix.

Vacuum pulse?

Lol - vac leak might be the cause of the high idle.

If it has a small leak or hole... as it draws vacuum it looks like it at some point in time is "burping" if that makes sense. pressure is rapidly changing and then it might "seal" back up and start over.
just a guess.

Already fixed the issue. Both a bad computer and a bad VR sensor on the brand freaking new distro.

Got a new one under warranty (saved 145 bucks) and megasquirted it. Issue fixed.
