Hey everyone,

I don't to start a flame war about this, and not sure if it even will; but where I am, Tucson, the import clubs are horrendous. now granted there are no Toyota clubs that I know of ( miiight be a 7th gen club... but they have their own problems like thinking all other celica's are crap). and like 90% of the clubs revolve around Honda's. I don't know how this is in any other city, but there is a lot of bad blood in the Honda community in Tucson, and from what I heard, in Phoenix as well. hell the biggest Honda club in Arizona has a dedicated page to known thieves. but anyway this bad blood causes a lot of drama in the import scene around town and generally weekly meets are shut down by cops.

I wanted to know how Import meets are in other States, and if they are usually bad, what do you end up doing?

I haven't tried going to any. I am part of a "JDM" group of facebook that's local, seems like pretty decent people. Mostly Honda cars though. Of course, seems most of them do the same **** most Honda owners do that piss me off. Probably won't ever bother.

Classic car meets, now that's fun.

Feel your pain. Here in Havasu it's all about lifted trucks.

And of the handful of imports that are done up usually only care about racing you, and couldn't care less about a meet/club

I'm not sure how things are now since I've been out of the car "scene" the last 4-5 years, but when celica.net was still up and awesome like 2002-04ish we used to have meets all the time between Vegas and Phoenix. They were fun and laid back with mostly celica/supra/mr2 people and anyone who wanted to hang out! Then when I got my Tiburon in 2004 we had local meets all the time! We had the best meet in LA with nearly 40 tiburons that turned out! I miss those days! I know that we have a, I believe weekly, type meet in Henderson. They call it "Cars and Coffee" and basically anyone can show up and park/show/check out other people cars on sunday mornings. There's everything from classics to the newest cars, I went once with my husband for one of his camaro forum meets and it really reminded me of the...dare I say...good old days! lol. Tuscon and Havasu aren't far...you guys should come! wink.gif

This.
Where I live we have a group of us that do weekly meets and such.
However there's lots of bad blood between "modified" cars, that chose to do stupid things like street race, and cause uneccessary attention which causes police to lump us into one big group, causing vehicle inspections that are supossed to keep our city safer, but which is really just a cash grab by targeting imports and dinging them for anything illegal possible, which really aren't safety issues.

The club/forum I belong to are trying to turn that view of imports in our city around from a negative to a positive.

Here in Charleston, SC it's not to bad. The legit cars meet on Tuesday nights, with a more intellectual crowd, and Saturday nights is the "Rice Bowl" meet....aka...beat up Hondas and 240s where EVERYONE is a D1 drifter.... rolleyes.gif

We've got a decent crowd on Tuesdays. Lexus's, Supras, AE86's, G's and 350s and a few big money Hondas that are super clean and respectable.
