So basically my problem is that every time i try to turn my a/c, i blow out the 10A fuse in the fuse box, the one under the steering wheel.

Im guessing its a problem with the switch, but everytime it tries to engage the clutch on the compressor it blows out the whole climate control panel.

I thought i had a short somewhere in the cabin, but i couldn't find anything. Im all out of ideas...has anyone had this problem or know of any possible solutions??

Thanks

Does the heat work? Fan blowing air?

If those work normally until you press the a/c button then odds are it's the clutch on the compressor.

I'm having the same problem. I had my A/C system checked and discovered that my compressor was the problem. When its seized, the compressor draws to much amps and blows the fuse. So, that would be the first thing i would check. I still have not fixed mine and won't until next summer. The compressor cost $200-$500 and the expansion valve needs to be changed with it as well which is only $25.00. BUT the expansion valve is behind the dash which means TONS OF LABOR!!!!

My Celica is doing exactly what you described but how can I tell if the compressor is bad? Spent the entire day and half the night in the TX heat trying to figure this out! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
