i have a 1994 st 5spd, ive been having lots of issues with tranys in my car. this is the second trans in my poor car in the past 3 months and they both seem to be loosing the input shaft bearing in the left side. im not big on transmisson work but does any one know how to replace the input shaft bearings? does this require pulling the trans apart? thanks in advance.

yes you have to open the trans to get to that bearing, but if you keep loosing it, then something else is wrong, figure that out first

Thinking it could be a bad axle perhaps. But it clicks clunks carries on when turning. And it has allot of up and down movement.

I haven't posted in a very very long time but I'm having this exact problem right now. If the input bearing is busted you might as well start thinking about a rebuild or replacement. If the bearing is already making noise then odds are that pieces of the bearing have already done more damage within the transmission.
AAMCO charges 800 to pull the trans and pull it apart, it's another 100 to change the bearing. If there is more damage you could be looking at 1300. You can get a rebuilt trans through Auto Zone for $1300, once you bring in your old trans they'll give you back 300. You can get a trans from a junkyard for anywhere from 150 to 300ish most of the time. .....and apparently I can't read because you've already been through transmissions. AAMCO is a bunch of rip offs. never use them. the cheapest route is pull the trans yourself. take it to a shop that does only trans work, but not a place with a big name behind it like AAMCO.

lol i called autozone and they said they cant get that trans for my car. im just gunna call jasper and see if they can get one..

I'm having the same issue with mine. There is a lot of up and down play on the drivers side. Sometimes when you turn the wheel at full lock, it will make a noise because of this. But besides that the car drives and shifts fine.
I wonder if anyone has attempted this repair on their own before and if there is some type of howto. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

this is just making me wander if it jusst the axle itself though. my bearings dont make worling noises, just clunking especially when you turn right and hit the gas. also a slight squish noise that is rotational when driving.
