Well, I went to 'Toyota Heaven' today.....and it is!

They had something like 6 6gcs on the lot and a handfull of 5th gens and tons of other stuff. I managed to piece together all the stuff needed for the swap. I got the spindles, hubs, disks, and park brake cables and assy off a 6th gen. Then I found a 5th gen that had good calipers and caliper hangars.

The guy in the office said they don't usually bother selling the calipers so he gave them to me for free. He only charged me $170 for everything else! I was stoked! It did take me 2.5 hours and an allergic reaction to get all the crap off, but it was worth it.

I'm going to get some pads next week and might have time to get them on but I dunno. I was hoping to get our sandblaster working so I could clean everything up and paint it all before I put it on, but I'm probably not patient enough for that. I think I'm also going to buy an adjustable proportioning valve so I have a little more control over everything.

I also found out some VERY INTERESTING info that will aid us all in the future but I've got to check a couple things before I spill the beans. Lets just say we should all be thinking BIG.

Good to hear that everything is working out well so far, good luck with everything else and let us know how it goes.

Awesome man! Mine costed about a hundred more shipped... then again, shipping was like 80 bucks considering the stuff weighed a ton. As far as the proportioning valve goes, I did a bit of research and thought both were the same between rear drums and rear discs. Let me know about that... cause I too might want to change that out eventually... depending on if my plans for a hachi change or not...

Yeah, I was thinking about the proportioning valve, it may be the same. I thought about pulling it off the gt, but since the gt's have different size front rotors, it really wouldn't do much good. An adjustable valve really isn't necessary unless you're really serious about optomising the system. With as much track time as I do, I need the extra control.

Yeah. I'm looking for a good miata to drive on the street so the celica can really be 'very low compromise'. It'll still have a/c full interior, etc...but I'll be a lot happier if I don't have to drive 450lb springs everyday. Dallas has the worst roads I've ever see. Horribly bumpy.

Basically everything SpedToe listed... Hub, spindle, disc, e-brake cables, calipers and hangers. That's about it. I do not reccommend collecting part by part, instead, get the entire assembly complete with everything.

SpedToe: what is the very interesting info? I'm curious. Mind hinting to me privately? ;] Is it that the rear disc assemblies between 6th gens and 5th gens nearly identical? Give me a hint...

Yes, the 5th and 6th gen assemblys are exactly the same and can be interchanged (at least as complete assemblys, I didn't take them apart and examine them).

The 'big news' I was holding out on because of business reasons, but it doesn't look like it will pan out for me the way I wanted so I'll go ahead and let everyone benefit from it. I'm going to start another thread for it tho because its an entirely different discussion.

Identical except I think the e-brake cables may be different lengths..

Good point, I hadn't thought about that....The spindle, disk, caliper, and caliper bracket are all the same. I believe the e-brake assembly is the same.
