Pick a swap with aftermarket support and there is a ton of fun things to do.

How many miles have you put on your swap?

But i really dont like turbos.

500?! How do you even know everything is running right and whatnot? I drive more than that much in a week, lol. That's hardly even a break in period for a new clutch..

Why don't you ever drive it? No offense, but there is no way you could have reached max fun with it in only 500 miles.. I mean..you modify the car, get out there and drive it. Why would a car need a BEAMS and bunch of suspension goodies to just chill in a garage?

Do you actually not like driving turbo cars or just don't like reading about turbo problems? Becuase when it comes to driving them, there is nothing like boost.

But anyways.. I say you go drive the BEAMS more, if it still bores you, continue thinking about a swap that floats your boat.

I have been playing with my suspension settings, is amazing how much different the car can feel just by messing with camber / damper and sway bar settings, I'm still finding the " perfect " tune for it, is fun, interesting and lots of reading / calculating. granted some of the " best " settings are not really for the strret.

on one of those test settings I was having a lot of fun, it really made the car handle amazing, BUT then it started raining and I found myself driving at 40 mph on the highway because of wet surface the car would oversteer very easily on corners, so I switched settings since, I think that's what kept me motivated, than and the fact that I have a 45 miles commute of mixed city / highway / backroads so I can enjoy the car safely.

im always working, ii work second shift, and i drive the FJ most of the time to work, i work on the car sometimes, and it goes weeks before i finish a project. AKA the sway bars, the car has not been aligned since then, so its not safely driveable, when i painted the bumper, it went weeks. Its like i dont have the patience anymore.

Beams is as good as any other swap, i could have swapped a 3sgte, and the same would have happen, ive been driving the FJ. I felt like after the swap, its like, ok im done.

most of the fault is the 1st gen restoration, but even thats on hold.

arghhh, oh well, well see... i wanted to see everyone elses opinion, and not talk just about my experience.

In all seriousness, take it to a track, burn some rubber, buy more rubber...rinse and repeat as necessary. Nothing better than competition or just learning your car even more to keep it interesting.

Going to meets helps. I'm not trying to drop hints, I'm really not. But meeting up with other enthusiasts and hearing/sharing stories is great motivation to keep going. I'd like to start attending some SCCA events as well, that certainly can't hurt anything.
