I've been a member since I got my Celica back in February. Since then I've seen lots of other Celicas on here and what others have done to them. Needless to say, this has instilled some thoughts as to what I'd like to do to my own. Today I sat down and "built" my dream Celica, just through what I've found out on here. Here's what I have so far:
QUOTE Drive-train: 1MZ-FE headers for the 1MZ-FE custom dual exhaust with Magnaflow catalytic converters and Magnaflow mufflers custom K&N cold air intake E153 transmission with LSD TWM short throw shifter for E153 Suspension: Tanabe coil-overs rear 3 point strut bar front 3 point strut bar Twos R Us end links set Suspension Techniques sway bar set JIC arm bar set Brakes: ST205 front calipers ST205 rear calipers and emergency brake system Exterior: Curren front end conversion Curren front lip TRD side-skirts and rear spats Euro spoiler blocks Kouki tail lights black 16" Enkei RPF-1 wheels 5GC side view mirrors S2000 antenna repaint in midnight blue pearl, purple pearl, or black pearl Interior: RHD conversion Leather front seats Japanese Pioneer double DIN head unit premium audio door panels replace speakers/tweeters with American, Japanese, or European components DD subwoofer with American or Japanese amplifier Of course most of this may never come into fruition, but some of it will. Haven't seen much about the 2GR-FE on here, seen it mentioned but not anyone that's doing it. If going to dream big might was well go with the 2GR-FZE out of the Lotus Evora that makes 345 hp, right? I was going for a realistic build, something I could manage over time. Few people on here have done the 1MZ-FE swap, and have had success. The other option was a 3rd gen 3S-GTE, but it's more expensive and supposedly parts can be hard to find for it. Maybe could even run a small boost turbo setup on the 1MZ-FE, or find the TRD supercharger, to make up for the power difference of it and the 3S-GTE. Plan on getting some small things like the antenna, mirrors, and tail lights soon.

Just got the reference, Home Improvement. It'd certainly be bad ass when all said and done. Hard part is convincing myself to spend $8K+ on a $2K car.

There's one member here working on a 2GR swap, and several MR2 guys. A 2GR powered Celica would pretty much decimate all. The numbers are very impressive.
I found it very easy to spend $10k on a $3.5k Celica Oddly a little too easy. Will have to try and find the one doing a 2GR-FE swap then. Only thing is there's that part of me in the back of my head saying, "YOU COULD GET A C5 VETTE OR SUPRA!" This is why I should win the lottery, then this isn't an issue.

That is sad. I think the older I get the less I care about driving the street. I love to race, but not on the street anymore, plus theres not really anything i run into that can come close to hanging. Getting older, and rally racing kinda took over my passion for cruising around. I see it all the time though, people spend uber dollars on crazy car builds, then they sell them once there done. It's more about getting there than actually owning one. If I ever decide to sell the rx7 and build another 'street' car it'll most likely be a factory five GTM... but I doubt it. I'd probably spend the money building a replacement rally car. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

I still want a car that looks nice and is fun to drive though. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

It's more like... it's the project or accomplishment to get to get what you want done. You drive for it. Once you get there though, then you're bored and need a new project haha. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

Or I could get a Mitsubishi again, those constantly need things done. Found some mirrors off eBay, but the ones that match my car's current colour are either faded or non-powered. Someone replaced the antenna on mine with a generic rubber one, need to see what needs to be done to get the S2000 to work now.

Once you get there though, then you're bored and need a new project haha. This. I more or less did my dream build due to a high amount of disposable income... Excellent learning experience, and now I can appreciate all of the time and money that I have put into it.... except once that it's done and you're not putting any real amount of money into it you start to get bored and your mind wanders to thoughts of a new project. 2GR swap would be legit. Supercharged would be too much for a Celica. Too much instant torque for FWD. A 1MZ with an Eaton M90 + standalone would be great... Now to find a M90... -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I know, was being facetious about the 2GR-FZE. Though I imagine that'd be excellent in an AWD layout. call it a dream build
because no one cares for the nightmare teething problems until they run into them. when you get so far into your build, sometimes, you just wish they made it how u want it stock so that it could all just work properly -------------------- Mike W

I wish they made what I want stock, would make my life easier. Imagine the hardest part of it would be the drive-train swap and RHD conversion. Mostly everything else is straight forward. Wish could find some mirrors soon though. Somehow my driver side is worn out and the mirror moves with idling of the car, turn the music up and its all over. Sadly on the mirror's behalf the idle is smooth and there's no sub yet.
