I have the chance to m jump on a rebuildable 2nd gen 3sgte super cheap. Its going to need a piston at the least. But my question, is it a practical project to take on? Will it swap in with a custom harness? Or would i need a saem to run it? It would be going into a 94 gt. Any info or recommendations would be great. Thanks guys

i would recommed a 3rd gen better, yes it can be wired in, not easy, and some members have them. its up to you.

For the price of the motor, and the fact it's semi-local, i can't pass it up. Im aware of the 3rd gens having more power, but I'm not in a competition. I've been looking to own a boosted vehicle for quite some time, and the reliability of the 3sgte is legendary. After factoring in rebuild costs, This might just be perfect.

im a fan of the 2nd gen 3sgte over the 3rd due to the simple fact that parts are more so readily available in the states.

Is the engine out of an MR2?

The power deficiency is easily made up... There's a site somewhere for the MR2 turbo and it lists out the differences of the 2nd and 3rd gen and how to level the playing field.
