Well i did it!! finally purchased my st205 front clip ( off ebay) . Clips located in Orlando and im In NC. Bout 10 hour road trip to go pick it up. Not bad, drove to Tallahassee to pick up my 2nd celica (Rosy) from Ian; a member of this site, so this trip shouldn't suck too bad. As soon as i figure out how to post pictures ill do just that. but those of you who cant wait, i think its still on ebay for some reason; its the silver st205 with the projectors. those of you who dont believe me i definitley bought it ( call them up if you dont believe me).
I was actually wondering why it was on ebay for so long. Seemed like a pretty fair deal to me and after a month went by i couldnt take it anymore! lol. This is definitley not going to be a super fast swap. After seeing Bens swap, not in person, yet; i want to do the swap right. Not gonna take a year either but hopefully no more than 6 months. Ill try and post pics as well as other members from this site have done, hopefully some people will lend a hand because I am no mechanic lol. Have most of the tools needed, and my dad knows what he's doing and Ben offered his assistance also so this should really all be happening very shortly. Still in shock to be honest, For 6 years i've owned celicas ( 94 gt, 95 4age 20v) and never had the guts to embark on the 3s journey; but taking the plunge and actually ordering the front clip, i gotta tell ya, it feels phenemenol lol. I just hope the front clip i bought on ebay was worth it, ( i value your opinions) I guess thats it for now, ill feel much better once its in my posession. Tried to leave tonight but not sure if my moms 2000 ford windstar can make it. [/img][/img] [/img] This post has been edited by TwistedCeli94: Jul 13, 2012 - 11:28 AM |

thanks rave. Well still trying to figure out how to actually get the clip to me. My problem is, i dont have a reliable vehicle to tow a trailer but By chance my dad is going to be in tampa for a week; leaving this saturday and just so happens to be looking for a truck to buy. I spent the better part of today convincing him to just go head and get a truck sense he's been looking for a month now. Tomorrow he's going to look at one and hopefully buy it. I think he's more inclined to buy one now that he will be able to make use of it by picking up this clip for me. How freaking sweet would that be. If not, gotta wait till sometime next week (prlly friday) to find a suv/ truck to make the haul. Pretty stupid on my part for purchasing something i wasnt 100 percent on how to actually get it lol. Dont get me wrong, sh*ts going down; just really eager to get this already!

stop posting until you have the clip. getting me all wound up for nothing! ha im kidding. well what do you wanna do with it? do you wanna just drop it it? rebuild and build it? if it was me, id do what ben did. get the motor torn down, rebuild it knowing everything going in is brand new and better then stock, also i believe most of bens power cam from the radius cut on the valves. granted the FMIC probly did a number too. id most certainly pull the head, check the crank and bearings and what not so you dont have to deal with it later. id have to call you an idiot if you didnt replace the wp and timing belt, so much easier with it out of the car. just make sure and take your time.

ok last post till i have it! Man i am not as mechanically inclined as a lot of people on here. I wasn't planning on building the engine but seeing Bens car on youtube has got me thinking. Ben did recommend a machine shop to do the whole shabang but what kind of cash am i looking at dropping for that?

Ben did recommend a machine shop to do the whole shabang but what kind of cash am i looking at dropping for that? Expect atleast 5k budget, without a complete breakdown of the block. That is where I am sitting just sourcing parts, tools, and I'm doing it all myself. |

Mine probably cost around 5k for the machine work and all the rebuild parts I needed. That price doesn't include what I spent on the motor itself. I do have a good hook up with Lithia on parts, and can get the idler bearings for 15 bucks a pop. Just need the belt and the water pump and I'd recommend a new front main seal and cam seals and we will be on our way!

twisted, why do you think were here? to help with anything and everything your not sure about. bens already built one, i work on cars for a living, were both 15 min away. what you worrying about?
that 5k also includded(sense ben didnt see the need to explain) rods, pistons, and whatever else he through in the motor. ive driven it a couple times. trust me, its a better feeling then anything a girl could do to you go big or go home? yes you could get away without upgrading the rods and pistons, some rebuild kits come with custom pistons. but if your looking to go all out power id recommend it, forget what ben said his motor should be able to handle on those internals, something ridiculous like 600hp. please correct me ben. |
