Just wondering how serious you take it when you park your car? Ex. I park in a parking structure everyday at work. 6:30a-3:30p M-F, I park my car in the exact same spot right on the 3rd floor next to a pillar, (backed in mind you, so I can just pull out and straight down the ramp). No one can park behind me, just to my left and right. Also, where this pillar is there's a speed bump. So I park it over my line on the passenger side as close as possible to the pillar.
Being that I work at GM and drive my foreign Celi everyday into work, I don't want to accumulate anymore door dings or scratches. So, is it bad to park your car unleveled like that? Especially for that amount of time? |

It should be fine to park your car like that.
I always try to park at least 5-10 spots away from the pack of cars in parking lots, near the back, so that people don't park near me and ding up my car. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I park way in front of the mall or wherever i go out. People seem to like stealing anything that is 5spd here in vegas. I park by the front, next to a light pole if its dark out, by a window if im at a restaurant.

I'm pretty anal. I always park far out away from everyone and at school I park in a lot that almost no one parks in because it is so far away...

I used to not worry about it, but the other day I came out to my car after work and someone had put a hellacious ding in my driver door. It almost looked like they opened their door into mine, and then started to pull out with the door still open. Huge gash down the side of my car. Ever since then, I park way off in the corner. Doesn't help the fact that I still have this huge ding, now, but I am hoping that I won't get any more.
On that note... Anyone have experience (good or bad) with the paintless ding repair places? I have heard some say that the paint can peel up after a couple of years. I have a LOT of very old rock chips and the aforementioned ding in my door that go all the way through the paint, but there are a lot of the gentle door-dent things I would like to get repaired, but I am leery of the dentless thing. (sorry to hi-jack the thread) |

To be honest I try not to park next to anyone at all. I'm the guy most people hate because I take up two parking spaces at an angle. You can't blame me, I have spent so much money on this vision of mine that I would loose my mind if anything should happen to my celi. Now that I installed the DVD, speakers, and soon the subs, I'm even more anal about where I park. If it wasn't for the overly expensive alarm I had installed I would watch all the time. Oh well, gotta watch out for your investments.

I would park and take up multiple places, but I figure that people might get angry with me and key my car or something. I just try to park far away, and under lights if I'm parking somewhere at night.

WHen I used to work in at different city for GM, my friends and I would all park next to each other so we wouldn't get any dings or other damage to our cars. We'd always park hella close to each other since we knew we wouldn't get any dings or take up every curbed island. My one friend had a Type-R, the other a 94 TT Supra, amongst our other co-workers cars who had domestics.
Now that we're in the structure, my friend with the 94 TT parks it right at a corner where no one can park on this one side, my friends dads Z takes up one pillar like mine, and there's another Integra that's parked by a pillar wall also, etc. I wouldn't mind parking "normally" but we always heard rumors of foreign cars/trucks being vandalized at GM. So far nothing bad has happened to my Celi. *knock on wood* |

I should talk to people like that here and see if we can do something like that. There's a nice WRX, a riced out 240SX, a clean Integra GS-R, and a nice Subaru Impreza 2.5RS that might be interested in doing something like that. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

the "pack" parking is a good idea. No matter how far out you park, and no matter how many spaces you leave between your car, theres always that jackass in the beater that has to park right next to you so that you can't even get your door all te way open. I have way too many door dings...

Oh yes, I can blame you. You're the guy who causes me to spend 45 minutes looking for a parking spot. At my school parking is a major problem. But it's gotten slightly better. Why? Because a month after school restarted, all the freshmen who parked their nice riced up BMWs like that came back and found their car keyed to hell and learned not to do that again. Sooner or later, parking like an ass will catch up to you. (and no, I had nothing to do with that and respect another man's automobile, but when I see a car parked like that, I do wish very bad things apon a person) furthermore, nothing personal against you. |

When i park at malls or on streets, i try to park near nicely kept cars or expensive ones that i know people are compulsive about keeping clean or ding-less. Not that it matter much now since i have a million dents from the previous owner....but come this spring i wont want to risk a brand new and super clean paint job (hopefully) by parking next to an idiot who cant drive his Hummer/Suburban/F350/Cadillac Escalade.....etc.
