Just got my 7th Celica (not all at once). A 1995 convertible. All seems fine but radio was not working when I bought it. I assume bad unit (single din 11712). Didn't occur to me that there could be a connection between this and the dash clock and dome interior lights (by the rear view mirror) also being out.

Went to wire in the replacement radio - no power. Don't have a voltmeter handy, so can't check if juice is getting to these three things. Have checked all fuses and all seems fine. Not sure if there's a relay or any other thing to check that could be connected to all three of these things.

Weird thing is that everything else is working fine - even lighter. Any thoughts. I suppose I can run a jump from the lighter to the clock and see if that solves that problem. But clearly something is up and trying to track it down without running to Radio Shack to by a meter.....thanks!

Just to let you know the dome lights, and clock are on same fuse. My alarm(viper) would not set, the clock was off and dome lights stopped working, after he replaced a fuse all has been well.

Thanks. Fuses are fine - I've checked them. I actually wonder if it is a short. Perhaps a short going into the fuse box itself because my hunch is no power is going through there (except I don't have a volt meter handy)

Just replace all of the fuses that is what I do when I buy a used car. Sometimes a fuse looks good but it is bad and the varnish or corrosion builds up and thy just don't work. Again we don't know what the previous owner was up too but I would put new fuses just so you are not backtracking.

So, since I isolated that everything on the DOME fuse under the hood was not working, I ran a jumper from the Hazard fuse (also 10amp) and guess what? Everything is now working! So, there's obviously a short going into the fuse box from wherever that wire originates (presumably eventually back to the battery). Did make sure to run the jumper cross the fuse block so that it actually has to go through two fuses now to power the DOME items - that way if there is a surge or other electrical issue, hopefully the fuse (or, in this case, fuses) will go first.

I suspect this is not the best way to solve the problem, but if anyone has ideas on how to trace the wire for DOME back to the source without going through a mess of harnesses, that would be great.

New problem is I noticed today that there is no wiper fluid reservoir. And not only that - the sprays at the windshield are gone (as are, obviously, the connecting hoses). A weird random thing to have pulled out of the car. Does anyone know how the washer switch on the steering wheel connects under the hood? If the mechanism is there, I can go to a salvage yard and grab a reservoir, tubes and even the sprays. But not sure how they connect or what they connect to. Perhaps more is missing than I am aware of.

Usually if you by the res you get the little motors built or snapped on to it. they have a plug which should be down somewhere by the passenger fenderwell. Then connect tubing
from the res motor and run it to your jets on your wipers. Push the lever and trigger the motors then the fluid goes to the jets. That is strange. It may be 2 motors if you have a rear jet.
