Folks, I do not want to sound silly or clam only me can do this. Nothing like that. I just want start slowly preparation (under anyone's lead) for calendar 2013. Last year I just missed for few days a chance to have lower price (because printing company suddenly rose prices before Christmas) and in fact donated calendar in the end to everyone with $0.6. To avoid it (and of course if I'm the one who prepare it) it must be ready for printing in October and will be send in November to your homes. That is why would be nice to start thinking about calendar (design, pictures, etc) better sooner than later to collect necessary amount of pictures. Great looking pictures in high resolution (no accidental snaps from cellphone) to have even better result than last year.

So... what you think? Any pictures you already know/have that worths to be there?

note: I really believe this is more about quality pictures NOT about cars in the picture so no one is excluded.

Never too early man!
I think this year you should look into making a full calendar, like with a full picture up top, than the monthly calendar underneath, or a bigger size even.
Starting early should allow people to save a bit more than the $13 from last year, allowing you to go bigger and better this year smile.gif

I agree. Having multiple images was kind of cool. But for my taste much too cluttered. I may have the time to collaborate and get this done. Im not if we already have a company in mind that will be producing these bit if not, I will look into some if I get the chance within the next week

Thanks for responses. For now more important is to have enough resources to fill the calendar with something than having list of potential buyers. I know how hard it was to collect 12 people with useful pictures last year.

If (repeat IF) I'm the person who manage those I must have all picture by the end of August to have time for design, sharing and collecting money for printing. Else is not possible manage printing in October a price again rise. And I want to avoid mistakes from last year. Of course I also want people start to believe there is no one who make promise making it and in the end nothing happens. That may help to participate more people in and sending more pictures for calendar.

In terms of price it self. Those $13 was really lowest cost possible. Now for the same design (means A4 with picture of the car and stripe with days/month/etc below) would be $14-$15 (depends on exchange rate between CZK and USD). Anyway any other design (for example that mentioned with big calendar page) means price is going up. $18-$19 probably. Also one disadvantage is when calendar sheet is prepared by local printing company there will be Czech holidays and Czech name days that is I believe not what you want to see there.

Looks like I'll be submitting my sig picture since my car is stowed away!

Another site im on had a thread with calendar submission (similar to our COTM) and then from there it is narrowed down to 12.
We didnt do that last year did we?

Last year was whoever won the COTM, and provided a High Res photo got 1st choice. Not many had high res, so Malpaso went on his own search to find some.

Liking your idea though. Make it a minimum resolution to submit or something smile.gif

Exactly! The main issue of COTM (and do not take me wrong way) is quality of pictures. There is no guarantee COTM winner has his picture in enough high resolution for printing. Not mentioning about his/her will to participate on the calendar. That is my experience from last year so would agree exactly with what you say. Make "calendar specific" rules for picture submission and wait till we have 12 pieces with another decision.

a) there will not be 12 at all = I would need to beg all people I know for pictures to fill 12+1 (do not forget the cover) pictures. Honestly exactly this happened last year.
b) there will be 12-14 pictures and we have amount we need. No issue, no stress just process what we have.
c) there will be way more pictures than 12 = we vote for the best of the best (the way it was a years ago).

No other options anyway smile.gif. Just to have enough decent pictures available. I know there is potential for this (for example I really like what Rusty shared few days ago here... just hope he has this in proper resolution for printing).

i was thinking that we could just go through and pick images that have been posted on the forum recently, contact the members directly, and see if they have or are able to get a hi-res of that image

Now high res would be above what size? my d5000 takes 4288x2848 photos in raw. Would that be sufficient?

I'd love to submit one of my photos.
Even if they have to get voted on.
