I know that they aren't mass produced... but I'm sure you could still get one brand new... but expect to pay a pretty penny for one of them.

That's right... totally forgot about the Caldina... so yes... they are mass produced still, but not here in the states.

Also, the Matrix is actually a HB Corolla, not the Caldina. wink.gif

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around... the Pontiac Vibe was modelled off of the Matrix... it even uses the same VVT-i motor. So technically... the Pontiac Vibe = Corolla Hatchback.

The USDM spec 3sgtes are either 165hp (1st gens) or 200hp (2nd gens). The USDM MR-2 Turbos came with the 2nd gen 3sgte... rated at 200hp and 200ft lbs of torque.

The CalDina 3sgte will pass emissions...

Except for visual emissions, due to the lack of an EGR system, which is required on newer USDM cars. wink.gif

I thought I had heard something about the 4th gen 3sgte not fitting into our cars? I could be wrong though just kinda got this little bell ringin in my head telling me that I read that somewhere but you would think that it would fit being an "s" series motor and all.

I personally would think that it would be hard to get parts for it - kinda like it is with the 205.

the 185 is alot eaiser to get parts for wink.gif

that depends on where you live... where I'm from I can put anything I want under the hood and they will never check biggrin.gif but alot of places are really strict about it

You'd be able to put it in, but wiring would be quite the nightmare I'm guessing because it's such a new engine. wink.gif

And about the emissions, it's the same way where I live. No emissions at all. tongue.gif

i think toyota only "remanufactures" the old versions of the motor. but the caldina is the last standing production car to recieve this motor from the factory.
