So I'm ready to do a gear oil change along with an oil and filter change, but the thing is I don't know where the plugs are exactly.
I tried making sense out of the BGB but I can't visualize it. Can I pour in the gear oil through the reverse light switch hole? (after removing the switch) EDIT: also, how much gear oil should I use? I've seen 2.5qts and 3.5qts in different places... so I'm kinda confused. There is a plug on the bottom passenger side and a plug on the front near the top. I think they were something like 21mm on my 94 GT.
If the car is on a level surface then all you have to do is fill till it starts overflowing, if the car isnt level then its apx. 2.6 quarts though you may wanna double check me on that. Pennzoil syncromesh is what Im running(its fixed my 3rd gear shift) and I think 75w-90 is the viscosity. |

I've read around MR2 forums (lots more info) that the S54 likes MT-90 better but that Synchromesh will work. Thanks for the info, I'll go and see if I can find the fill plug before removing the drain plug. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

Kinda awkward but the tranny fill plug is facing downward 45* and the drain plug is parallel to the floor. Fill plug is below the slave cylinder and the drain plug is right below the driver side axle. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

yes its driver side, and there are two plugs that sorta blend in, but will stand out if you look hard enough. as stated before, drain out of the bottom plug fully, then fill the top plug on level surface until it overflows. it will take a LONG TIME but IIRC its almost 3 quarts.
my car does not shift well... Ive been using 75-90 IIRC but I may have to try this MT-90 From redline.... -------------------- |

if you want an easier life, i would get the long tube.... it takes forever for it to seep into the tranny, and you will be waiting forever if you just use the spout.

There is a hand pump with a clear tube attached which will screw onto the top of the bottle. Its available at the local autoparts store for a couple bucks. Makes fillin trannys super easy |

theres also a funnel with a long tube and its a pretty big funnel, just fill it up heavy and it will eventually all go in a lot.
