Quick question hope someone answers ... I looked on a couple site but for my ECU i'm not able to find an answer
I'm running 94 Celica, I've place a 4th Gen 3S-GTE from Caldina. I also converted my car from auto transmission to manual. So what I have is a 94 Celica manual 3S-GTE, I did not realize that the guy who sold it to me sold it with a auto transmission ECU. only realized this cause I ran the serial number on the ECU it its a auto (89661‑21330). and apparently there is a difference cause for the same car manual serial is 89661‑213"2"0. So my question is does it matter what ECU im using they both have the same pin hook-up. and if it does make the difference, then what would be the symptoms and why it wouldn't work Thanks guys always for your help -------------------- Always fast and going for the look......

If it matters, the ECU will look for sensors on the trans and if it can't find the auto trans, it will go into limp mode, cutting power and not letting the engine rev over a certain RPM. The ECU might not care if the auto trans isn't there.

The ECU might not care if the auto trans isn't there. well it does rev above 6000 rpm never let it go higher but it like always from the start its dumping super duper fuel like 5-7mpg sometimes you can see the gauge just drop in 10 mins of driving.. would limp mode do that -------------------- Always fast and going for the look......

best get the manual ecu, has a more aggressive tune, and no auto-related ign retardation, otherwise sure, the engine should run allright and hit boost, just wont be the best it can be.
and yes, your gas milage suffers from ign retardation -------------------- Mike W

I thought pre-obdii ecus where the same except it tries pinging the o/d (which it can't find) causing the bulb to flash (if you have the o/d bulb)? Otherwise if you have obii it'll throw a code and go into limp mode? I could be wrong though.
