Am I just missing it? We should have a good "how to" or list thread stickyed. I really want to do this swap but I want something reliable to refer to.

There have only been a couple of 1MZ swaps, only three that I know of. Out of those three, only two were actually done by members here on the site and the third was done by a shop. I think Smaay is planning on writing up a good how-to or at least a good general guideline when he is finished with his swap. Kurt95gt's thread has most of the information necessary to swap a 1MZ in.

Or if you have questions you can just post it or PM me, Kurt, or Smaay. While I may not be able to speak to the 1MZ in the ST20x chassis, I can certainly answer 1MZ related questions.

Hmm ... I've heard it's a very easy swap, as far as swaps go, is that right? I want something that will give me more power, is reliable and I won't have issues getting parts, so naturally I was thinking 1MZ. I would LOVE to do a 3S-GE/GTE swap but I have this reoccurring nightmare of me trying to source parts for a broken engine, the same reason I don't even want to put ST205 calipers or projector headlights on my car. They're nice to look at but I like being able to go to the parts store and just get a part (especially with my 50 - 60% discount).

If you get all the right parts in the first shot then an have someone do the harness for you its an easy swap
The hardest part is the wiring. Other than that the rest is easy. -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

1. Buy donor car halfcut
2. Rebuild it 3. Install it 4. Receive torque Feel free to add to it guys. Seemed pretty comprehensive to me. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Mainly just the wiring and electrical that needs to be covered I think. Rest is pretty straight forward it seems, from reading on everyone else's builds. Of course even stock wiring is a bitch to deal with.

Just send your Celica harness and donor car harness to MR220V. Plug and play install when you get it back at a price that beats the headache you'll get if you do it yourself.

True. Of course I still need to find a rear ended Camry or Solara first.

Ive been thinking about having a mod cleaning my thread since I know there's probably 20 pages of bullcrap that could be cleaned out
Id be up to helping make a basic parts list of needed parts to do this swap if anyone else would want to help -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Ive been thinking about having a mod cleaning my thread since I know there's probably 20 pages of bullcrap that could be cleaned out Id be up to helping make a basic parts list of needed parts to do this swap if anyone else would want to help That'd come in handy. Including which half-shafts are needed for using the E153 transmission, motor mount(s), and how to calibrate the tachometer etc... The small stuff like that. Having it all in one place would definitely benefit all those wanting to, or even considering, the 1MZ swap. I have access to a Toyota technician, but it'd still be nice to have a fairly complete guideline to follow. Of course I still need to score a deal on a rear ended Camry/Solara. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

in my thread i have detail on using the tach from the camry/solara. its much easier to swap the circuit boards than trying to calibrate your for a V6 signal

I sent a spare tach to a MR2 board member named Mitch who changed out a couple resistors on the MR2 tach board to make it read the V6 signal. I suspect that change is the only difference between the MR2/Camry tach boards.
