Hey, I'm somewhat new to the Celica life, and just got a 94 Celica St.I want to do an engine swap with the engine from the 7th gen gt-s engine. But I don't know if that's the best way to go. Is there a cheaper better engine? Will the gt-s even fit? What's my best route/options?

First, welcome to the site!
Second, the 2ZZ engine will not work. Be sure to read the stickies at the top of each forum, as there are threads dedicated to which engines will work and which won't, as well as general how-to's for the swaps. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Honestly, the two cheapest swaps are the 4AGE/4AGZE (I'm counting these as one option). If you use another A series engine you can keep your transmission, plus I have seen many times where people are selling 4A swaps for cheap because they bought them to do the same thing then decided against it. Even though a 4A swap CAN be relatively (notice I use the work "relatively") cheap, the most power you'll get out of it is around 170hp (that's stock, not built of course) Your other option, and I'm totally not being a smart ass here, sell your ST and buy a GT. Any other swap than an A series on an ST would require you to replace the engine, transmission (and the problem with the ST body is no other trans bolts up to it. You have to do some body modification in order for you to even mount a transmission that will work with another swap), wiring harness (heavily modified), stand alone ECU (which also requires shop/dyno time), modified exhaust, shift linkages, axels ... etc. That being said, some of that would still have to be done for a 4A swap.
The other swaps adds up to being much more than you can just buy a GT for with an already more powerful engine, plus they're easier to do swaps on. Another popular option that I see on the ST is to turbo them. And before you ask, swapping a 4A head onto your 7A would end up being more work and probably end up costing you more than just swapping in the whole thing. You could always try: This post has been edited by Xander_X: Sep 27, 2012 - 8:55 AM -------------------- 99 Celica GT-S

Ok, so I didn't get into how easy or hard it was ... but it still won't bolt in w/o that. I just didn't feel like getting into the details.
