So I bought another fresh JDM engine off eBay, it was suppose to have an awd trans attached. But much to my surprise It came with a fwd trans. With a little pushing I was refunded some of my money for the mistake. My alltrac came with a low mileage JDM trans so I'm going to use that one.
My last gen4 3sgte came with this trans. It has the bar going threw the axle hole similar to the mr2 LSD trans. Also when you spin a tire the other tire spins the same direction indicative of a LSD transmission. This transmission also is set up for fwd so no need to source different shift levers like you would a mr2 LSD trans. I never ran this trans but it shifts threw all the gears with out issues. The import claims the swap has between 30-50k. I'm asking for $750 shipped $600 picked-up for everything you see in the pictures. But I will sell everything separate and prices are as follows: MR2 non lsd inners and Alltrac outers- $200 shipped $150 p/u Alltrac shifter cables- $120 shipped $100 p/u Alltrac crossmember with front trans mount- $80 shipped $50 p/u E153 LSD trans- $580 shipped $450 p/u I plan on cleaning the greasy parts before shipping in the parts washer. The alltrac crossmember and shift cables fit a 5th gen im unsure if they fit a 6th gen. If you have any questions please feel free to pm me. Well if it was an s54 there is no way in hell I would be able stuff mr2 turbo axle stubs in it. S54 axle stubs are half the size of mr2 turbo axle stubs. Not to mention I had the same trans in my gt-s, but assume what you want. Unless you interested buying don't spam my thread thanks.

Just doesn't look like the trans I thought it would. Seeing them before, who knows maybe my vision was off yesterday. Enjoy the free bump dick. Get some rep on the site before you act like billy badass. I was interested. This post has been edited by rave2n: May 22, 2012 - 8:54 AM |

I have a very good rep on celicatech if that is a problem.
If the trans doesn't sell I will be taking it apart with lots of pics. You are not the only person to argue with me about what this transmission is. Then people will know to use the fwd transmission that comes with there st215 swap and not send it to the scrap yard. I have it documented on celicatech what I went threw to make this transmission work and what is needed. |

I have it documented on celicatech what I went threw to make this transmission work and what is needed. I did further research and it is certainly the e153. I simply stated it looked like the S54 without LSD. There was no argument. Most of the swap acquired here come with the e154-f from the ST-205, that is one that is often sent to the scrap yard. Or sold elsewhere. No one here would throw a e153 out. GL with your sale. This post has been edited by rave2n: May 22, 2012 - 9:19 AM |

Doesnt look like a E153 has stamped overdrive cover instead of cast aluminum like E153, altho bell housing side axle output plate does look like E153.
And that must be the first LSD I have seen with spider cross, why do people on this site think that when u see a bar across its LSD. With LSD you should be able to see all the way across inside would get smaller and would look like (0) this looking across instead of (l) which would be open diff. But it does have right shift cable brackets like E153, just might have different covers thats all, but dont think its LSD tho. GLWS This post has been edited by placham: May 23, 2012 - 8:10 PM |

The style of LSD your talking about is an aftermarket LSD like a trd, quaf, or kaaz unit.
The OEM viscous LSD that comes in the MR2 turbo has a bar and when you spin one wheel the other follows in the same direction. From what I gather from others on various forums is, this e153 is a solara v6 transmission essentially. This came with a st215 swap this isn't something that I pulled from a junk yard somewhere. This came from Japan from newer car than what everyone is use to seeing. Here are a few eBay listings with the fwd trans, I have seen them advertise it being LSD but these do not. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-TOYOTA-CELICA-...r#ht_3141wt_922 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Celica-Mr2-Jdm-3sg...r#ht_1509wt_922 http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-03-TOYOTA-CALDI...#ht_2779wt_1247 http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-03-MR2-CELICA-C...#ht_14311wt_922 This post has been edited by Tecker184: May 23, 2012 - 9:37 PM |

plachem, ur trans do not have lsd. i have ran es300/camry e153 trans in my celica and no bar = open diff / bar = lsd. also, if im correct, es300 trans probably has a shorter final drive so expect to do 80mph at 4k rpm. topping out at 120 at 6k rpm. also, there is two types of mr2 turbo inner axles, lsd/no lsd. the difference between them is the drivers side lsd axle has longer splines than the non lsd. plz see link

wait a second. look at the speed sensor. that is a cable driven speed sensor. there is no freaking way that came out of a Caldina. unless its a really old one. cable driven speed sensors went bye bye back in 94 i think.
i still say something is fishy about this -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

I have the same trans on the pic's. He bought the engine on ebay, who knows if the engine was swapped b4 and the guy removed the e-speed sensor and replaced it with his stock speed sensor but, it's definitely a Caldina FWD trans. Also, this trans have been discussed many times b4. The man is not lying, this is a E153 LSD.
