Well, me and my cousin finally have enough money saved up to start our own small business, a garage, he studied motors and what not, i studied autobody technician. One of the things we would like to do is take a old japanese car that's dirt cheap with minor things to do to it and sell it for profit. So, im trying to get a feel for the market and would like you guys to give me your opinion on whats hot in the old japanese car market and what should be our first project.

Stick with Hondas, they are cheap and can be fixed up for cheap and still net some type of profit. Plus people view them as gas savers and sporty fast cars from fast and the ferocious. I would however, not make it turbo fast and expect to net any profit. Stock cars usually sell faster as long as the paint still looks new and it drives.

Yeah i expected as much, honda's are a hot ticket item around where i live. Im not thinking about turbos on anything, simply fix a.few things here and there and a.nice paint job

Maybe a ae86 or a 240sx if you get your hands on a good one

I missed out on a 1987 AE86 GTS for 300, it needed a head gasket, a nice buff to the paint and a new lease on life

I would buy up auctioned cars with blown head gaskets and similar issues. Couple hundred dollar car and a couple hundred dollar repair..

Geez, if only i were remotely into hondas maybe i would actually buy a cheap one and fix it up. But i loath hondas, they do not call my attention whatsoever. I'll probably just stick with toyota and nissan models.

I'm not a huge honda guy, but if I were to fix up cars and resell them, honda's would be the main type of car in my eyes.
Like stated, they are cheap, reliable, good on gas, and overall decent daily drivers for the average human.

make sure you budget yourself. profit is key. honda, toyota is a good start. i daily a 1990 civic hatch and people go crazy when they see it.

just finished a 92 corolla for a friend. it ned a new trans. we fixed it up. new axles, seals, battery, tires. i sold him the car for $200. he has a nice spare car and paid about $1,100 all said and done.

point is car in the early 90's still are sought after due to impressive mpg's... got 40+ last tank on my civic. just gotta know your market and find good deals. live live on craigslist and have cash in hand. lol

Yeah, i know that feeling. I daily drive my wife's 1984 civic hatchback. It's a head turner all right, its just not a hit with the ladies though lol. Typical gear heads love it though.

I'd say any of the 4 cylinder Toyota, Honda, and Nissan cars would be a safe bet. Not sure about Puerto Rico, but in the southern U.S.A. trucks are also popular. Then your V8 powered U.S. made coupes are also popular, again here anyway. You could go through some local wanted ads and see what people are looking for to get an idea.
