Hello 6GC,

Dr Tweak and myself have been tossing around the idea of building the 3SGTE engine harnesses brand new for the 6th gen swaps. We would offer ST185, ST205, and ST215. Prices would be between $700-800. (nothing set in stone yet)

These harnesses would be completely brand new with the exceptions of the fuse box plugs, and under dash plugs which would be reused from your 6GC core.

The new harnesses would be A LOT slimmer than the OE Toyota harnesses, and easier to tuck/hide for a cleaner look.

We have also been working with different looming options. We now offer our traditional style corrugated looming, a heavy duty heat shrink looming, and also a braided looming.

Please let us know what you, the 6GC community thinks!! We are anxious to hear your feedback! smile.gif

Sounds convenient, would it work for obd1 cars?

Yes, of course! OBD-II functions are lost anyway when you do a JDM engine swap. All of these harnesses would essentially be OBD-I spec. If you ever had a CEL, you would jump our diagnostic port, and count the flashes of your CEL.

Also, much like the SR20 and RB-- conversion harnesses, would you work on trying to improve the grounding as well?
Also, why no redtop 3sge wiring harnesses?

Yes, the regular conversions, where the customer provides us with the 3S harness to modify, was right around $400, give or take depending on the condition of the harness, broken connectors, cut, etc. If we have a high demand for them, we would be able to lower the price of the newer harnesses in the long run.

We're going to start with the 3SGTE's. If there is a demand for the BEAMS swaps, I'm sure we could build them as well.
Also, what are the grounding issues the 3SGTE's are having? Most of the time when we have a customer call us with issues, we do have them check their grounds. 9 times out of 10, they don't have enough external grounds from the engine to the chassis. The harness itself only has one ground for the ECU and sensors. Our harnesses would be a "replica" of the factory harness as far as placement of components, and circuits.

Thanks for the feedback guys! We really appreciate it!

How much would it cost for an ST205 - ST205 loom refreshened with new wires and plugs, with AC-delete, Cat-delete, FMIC Code 54fix and braided with easy tuck? with the supply of core st205 loom?

guessing it would be cheaper for me to source my own loom and do it myself, but if the difference was insignificant would be nice for a pro to do it biggrin.gif

my wires are starting to crack and my plugs crumble, such an old car, + gets very hot under the hood

I appreciate that you guys are trying to provide a service and bring competition to the board, however you are going to have to bring the price way down, that MR2 guy does it for half what you are suggesting and i have first had seen his work.

now you are suggesting brand new harness' so thats some incentive. But i still think its a little expensive.

We're not trying to bring competition. We are just offering a service to those who would like to use it. We really don't see many 3S harnesses come through here anymore. We've been insanely busy with our new 1JZ, 2JZ and 20V harnesses. We just thought that since many of the 6GC members DO know who we are, and what we offer is there, that we could offer you guys something nicer than a beat up old used 3S harness.

I know there are some members here who have a lot of time and money into their cars, and the way the electronic components are laid out in a 6GC engine bay, the wiring can be quite an eyesore.

Pricing is something we could work on if we have enough people interested in it. I do understand $700-800 is expensive for many of the younger 6GC owners, but again, with enough people interested in it, it's just like anything else, the more we sell and produce, the cheaper they will become.

Again, we really do appreciate all the feedback guys! smile.gif

You may want to let the guys know from Alltrac.net also. I think since the 5th gen is a lot older and the wiring is hard to come by, they/we might be more inclined to have a new harness, I know I would.

If we currently have a 3s swap harness and gave you some specifics.. what are the odds that you could build a 2nd one for those who want a wire-tucked engine bay and then swap old for new in the end? That'd be GREAT!

I will update this when we get closer to building one. Right now we're playing catch up with our new 1JZ/2JZ harnesses. Once those are all squared away, we'll be ready to start a new prototype!

Once we get a basic prototype made for the basic swap, we would easily be able to alter some things per your request!

will these just be direct plug and play and work with the components on the 5sfe...like ac if we want to keep the ac, work with the jdm gauge cluster....etc? of course this would be better than the whole 3sgte harness hybrid with the 5sfe with old frail wires.

The jdm gauge cluster is all wired in just repinning the plugs in the dash. It depends on what cluster you get, euro spec or JDM. There are differences. The only thing I needed to do with my JDM cluster that wasn't simple re-pinning was running a wire from the stock boost pressure sensor to get my stock boost gauge to work. I tapped into it at the ecu and connected it that way.

(back on topic)

I'd love to see the heat shrink wrapped option, would be nice and clean. I think its a great idea to add to the aftermarket options for our cars, especially custom tailoring the harness to the specific application.

I think this is a great idea. I might be interested in a beams harness that's been slimmed down and wire tucked, but that would be at least a year or two down the line for me. However, the idea of offering refreshed harnesses for alltrac guys is a great idea, when I had my ST165, the harness had melted in spots and I had all sorts of electrical issues related to wiring, and I looked for a long time to find a better condition hanress with no luck since it is a common ST165 problem and a rare part to come by...

Just thinking...:
How about a harness that could handle a VVTI swap (from a 7th gen celica) into the 6th gen? Would that be possible/feasible?
