Can you ladies and gentlemen tell me why the HELL there aren't any 6th generation celicas in sport compact car magazines, tv shows or anything like that? Why is it all about preludes, civics and eclipses? why why why? Why dosent the media love the 6th gen celica? why?!

^ plus IMO because its an older car...7th gens are more abundant and currently on the market...and besides, who else other than other car heads will recognize a 6th gen from a 7th gen, or a celica for that matter. might as well go with the common civic in mainstream media i think.

There was some import model chick that was on one of those tuner shows on Spike TV, she had a maroon 6th gen. The car was pretty sick, but she chose getting implants over a 3S-GTE...lol...that was the first 6th gen I've ever seen on TV.

the 6th gen is in a 3 second clip of the first fast and the furious. You can see the tailights of the hatch! but as far as the media goes not many toyota are out there. the only one that is ever spoken about is the supra, its about power and style. The 6th gen has the style. but again there isnt much on the power. and there isnt uch that can be done to get power. or its not as easy to do as a civic.

Yes! Three seconds closer to our 15 minutes.

well i blame it on the all those car magz... everytime you see a toyota thats not a Supra it's either a MR2, Corolla and they have crazy amounts of power.. and its usally the owner of the car that send it the info an pics. I just say everyone on her that had done a swap or turbo, and body kits... send it pics and info to all the magz and get the balll rolling i'll be doing that once project:sleeper black is done..

When the 6th generation celica came out it was expensive. As a result people didn't really buy many of the celica's. In fact, toyota almost dropped the line due to poor sales. It also had very little horsepower. Both of those contribute largely to no media attention. Other cars are a lot cheaper and had a lot more horsepower. Unfortunately it wasn't till the 7th generation celica that toyota caught up with the tuner frame of mind. They're less expensive and much more powerful. We got jipped dude.

that really makes sense, because it is only now that the 6gc has been on the used car market for a number of years and the price has dropped drastically that it started getting any aftermarket at all.

I can get a new GT_S with 50k miles cheaper than a 97+ 6th gen with similar miles. That's why the 7th gen is so popular.

IMO, first off, civics are cheap, they dont cost anything really, that and swaps are a fugg load cheap and easier, ther for - any one can really do the swap, There not bad looking cars, and honda's have a good rep. That and when celicas came out they wernt worth it, not enough power, and options for the price, - im sure some of these were said, but i didnt feel like reading everyones post

It's just sad that a car with such beautiful lines... the 6th generation body style is just amazing... it's just sad that it didn't have the rest of the formula to be more popular. But at the same time, I wouldn't trade my Celica for a Honda in a zillion years. I get soooo tired of seeing Honda's on every street and on every page of the mags. If i had one, then i'd just be another follower. We're the underdogs. And i must say, when ya look at the members rides... wow.... With what little we have to work with, the tuners on this site have built some AMAZING cars! "We make this look good"!!

Brand new member? are you?
Not from U.S.?
If you read a bit more about the 6gc in general you will get the picture.
You probably have an SSII JDM with a 3S GE engine.

That HP is about the same as a GT's wheel horsepower on the dyno.
