how to rechrome the housing of the projectors? Options

so i bought a set of projectors but the housing needs to be rechromed. i already removed the glasses using the oven. i tried aresol can paint but i failed. i used the method of glossy black paint and chrome paint on top of it but didnt work. i read that for these parts you need to "vacuum metalize" which i have no idea what it is nor idea how much it costs and idk where to get it done. any help?

Its probably vacuum formed onto it. They would take a sheet of plastic with a reflective coating and use a machine that heats the plastic to make it malleable, then the machine would use a vacuum to suck the plastic sheet around the surface of the headlight housing.
Alternatively, you can have it electrochemical dipped. They will coat the areas you want chromed in some type of electrically conductive paint, and then they will dip it into a tank of chromic acid or whatever and then electrically charge the headlight, which will deposit chrome onto the headlight housing.

Im sure having the headlights chromed would cost a couple hundred but Im not sure how much the vacuum forming would cost. I also dont know where you would have either job done at, but Im sure you could find someone local in either the phonebook or the internet.

There is no spray-on or dipping method that will look as good as the original vacuum plating that was done to it.
I got mine professionally vacuum plated and it cost me about $300 for both low beam projector surrounds but only because I had to ship them out since there's only one place in Canada that does it.
It came out just as good and seemed to be more durable than the original.

If it were me I'd just paint the housings a glossy black and call it a day. Personally I think black would look better versus the chrome anyway.

So far, I have yet to see someone do a black chrome vacuum plating job. I think it would absolutely sick! Most people go the spray-on route.

Plastidip a different color.

Now that they're out you could do a projector lens color mod. All you gotta do is spray the back of the projector housing with a matte paint that's a dark color. I think they're black from the factory, not sure.

I bumped into these on the FS forum. I think it's sprayed with black paint? I don't know. Lol. But yea it's black. Looks nice but I think chrome would be a better choice. More OEM look.

Black Chrome is different. The ones on the FS forum are black rattle can, not black chrome

I had the same issue, ended up buying the piece from a member who had a broken projector from a wreck, but the chrome piece intact. I called to get a quote from a company to get it re-chromed, estimated around 200 for just the one piece.
