Hey guys

I recently bought my Celica and on the test drive, i changed gear, and when the pedal released, it seemed to be stuck halfway. I managed to get the car to the side of the road, and the owner said it was just the mat stuck by the pedal. I didn't get to see what he did, but i assumed he had moved the mat, and we were away again. Anyway, i liked the car, and ended up buying it.

1 month (ish?) on today, i was driving around a car park, when the clutch did the exact same thing! It wouldn't return, and i could not move that car at all kindasad.gif

After a bit of pumping of the clutch i managed to get it to return, and since have done 100kms with no problem (was definitely not the floor mat mad.gif )

Took it to my local mechanic, and he didn't notice any problems. He said that my fluids are good and that the spring / pedal assembly for my clutch appear okay. He did mention something about the master cylinder, but he couldn't tell as the clutch was operating fine when he looked at it.

Any ideas? Any one had something similar happen before?

Cheers, Liam

the master or slave cylinder is leaking internally. either replace the slave or rebuild the master

I had the same problem! So far I've changed both the master and slave cylinder. After asking around, alot of mechanics said it was probably the release bearing. So I'm working on installing a brand new clutch kit in my 94 celica.

the throwout bearing will have nothing to do with those effects. those mechanics are idiots!

The mechanic did say that he thought the slave had been replaced at some point...
Think i might rebuild the master and see how i go (if it does it again)

slave and master has been covered many times, I'm sure it will help you diagnose.

The clutch did it again! And again it was in a car park ...

Maybe i should start to avoid them tongue.gif

I've got the local mechanic ordering in a master cylinder.

It seems to be doing it (usually) after i've put it into second gear
