So as most of you know, I've been trying to find parts for a previously parted out Gen III engine, I have everything on it now from what I can tell. What I don't know is what goes where I have the masking tape flag hanging down, oil keeps spraying out when I try to crank it so I plugged it with a water temp sensor. I'm guessing a sensor goes there. The view in this pic is looking up from under the engine above the oil filter. If it is a sensor that goes there it doesn't matter because I have all of the sensors that I need connected right now for the EMS to run the engine. I don't see anything about it in the oil routing diagram of the 3sgte manual, so I know it isn't an oil feed to something. Is it a sensor? If so I'll just leave my water temp sensor in there and seal it off.
So can someone tell me what goes here? -------------------- -Jay

It's kind of hard to tell from your picture but I think this might be what you're looking for.
I just pulled this motor from an unmolested clip so I think nothing goes there. Cheers, |

That's all I needed to know, thanks! I guess someone put a sensor there or pulled the plug out of the hole to sell to someone. I might put an oil temp sensor there if I can find one that threads in.

You could use any sensor you want, if you use something like we did(We used the one on the right) Blitz SD Racer oil pressure sensor and oil temperature No leaks, works perfect |

What is the thread size of that reducer? I looked at mine more closely today and I realized that someone already put a reducer in, so I threaded in an oil temp sensor that I had intended to use anyway, it fits. I'm going to put an oil pressure sensor in too, I don't know the thread size though. I tried to pull it out of the block but it wouldn't budge, so either it is cross-threaded or waaaay too tight. I'm going to use one of the other ports for the pressure sensor, I'm guessing they are all the same thread size?

most likely someones wound in an NPT into a BSPT
all good, they prob just thread taped it and made it permanent they go 1/8, 1/4 , 1/2 etc.. hard to tell from the photo but that looks like 1/4 autometer's separate pressure/temp sensors are 1/8, should be pretty obvious by looking at it anyways -------------------- Mike W

I can figure out the thread of the sensors that I have, I just mainly need the block thread where the plug is. -------------------- -Jay

check if its a tappered thread, if it is, then its a BSPT, if its not a tappered thread, chances are its either M10x1.25 or M12x1.5
make sure your thread tape doesnt go past the threads, i dont trust bits of plastic floatin around in my engine. -------------------- Mike W
