For those of you on here who are aware, I've been building a RHD SS3 for some time now. I'm in the process of buttoning things up and the mirrors continue to cause me grief.
Let me outline the scenario... The dash wiring is from a 98 RHD Jap celica. The door wiring I scored is from a 94-95 celica. (proven to me by the existence of a pink wire in the loom.) When I received my wiring, the plug pigtail for the folding mirrors was cut. I have the mirror relay WITH pigtail but have no where to "plug it in" due to my 98 wiring harness expecting the type of mirrors that don't need the extra relay. I also have the switch and what I believe to be a serviceable pigtail for the old mirror type with the pink wire. I ALSO have a switch and pigtail for the new mirror type that doesn't need the relay. I therefore have my option really, but it always seems like I have the wrong plugs/harness to make this work... Does anyone have any ideas or clear direction to go? I've scoured every JDM mirror thread in this forum and nobody has this mismatched wiring problem that I do. I'll post a pic of what I have on the control side in a while. Any thoughts? Or am I going to have to cut, splice, and repin some wires to make this work? Thanks for the help -------------------- |

You can see I have the retract wires left, and you can also see those same wires for the right side mirror in the background.... This is with the non relay plug installed -------------------- |

pink wire means relay. brah.
yes i feel your pain heres my relay and i had to extend wires to the doors to complete cricuits.. this is my wiring test before i extended the harness. all colors matched. i undid the whole door and here are the extra wires... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I know pink wire means relay, but if possible id like to do it without.
To me there are two scenarios, in 94 and 95 they had the pink wire and the separate relay. In 96 - 99, along with various other upgrades, they eliminated that relay and incorporated its function into some other master relay location. Somehow the new stuff works without relay so because I have facelift dash wiring, I have to have the ability to have folding mirrors without the relay.... But if I have to use it, can you please post some photos of the back of your switch if you have them. That's one part im unsure about. I have a pigtail that will plug into the control switch, but it was short the pink wire in the loom so I added one from another harness, but the pinouts in the mirror thread don't make sense with mine. I therefore don't know which write is which coming from the switch.... -------------------- |

sure, when i did it the only wire that was extra was the pink wire. what i did was i unpinned the usdm and reversed it... kind of hard to explain..
because the wires on the jdm plug are inverted, i did not cut and splice... here is when i tested which wire is what JUST FOUND THE VIDEOS, HOPE IT HELPS... then the nasty work on the switch -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years...
