haha, its chinese and japanese.

Japanese use Kanji (literally meaning masculine language...hehe) which is chinese characters.... and then there is hiragana (literally meaning feminine language)

They are both part of the japanese language its just that Chinese characters is what they use for writing, same with like korea...which uses it less, and hk, taiwan..etc.

Right on, its good to know these things, I wasn't saying it was not Chinese just trying to make sure it wasn't the "everything asian is chinese" stereotype.

One layer of fiberglass.. Didnt want to do too thick so the door would still be able to close without hitting
user posted image

Trimed and sanded, will need to do a little more glassing to this section and then use filler, smooth it and seal but it shows the general Idea

I didn't mess with the actual opening yet... I will have to do some more cutting to the scoop to make it look really nice and flush with the car but its is starting to give a real good "wide body" look to the car when the door is closed..dont think I have a photo of it yet but will get one and post it.

edit: here is a photo of just the prep work that show kinda what I was talkin about with the "widebody" look, its alot better with the fiberglass and not the clay, tape, foil etc - but you get the idea biggrin.gif

you can see in these where I need to cut some more on the scoop... pretty much right at the bottom opening of the scoop where it meets the flat section of the skirt - if you look at the first and second photo you will see a small little black triangle between the car and part of the scoop (the part that should be touching the side of the car directly) that is where I need to cut it out and smooth it in with the body lines.. it will make the scoop a little more open than how it is on the supra but think it will make this look alot better than tring to bring the side out to match with the scoop.

heres another one I found.. think this shows it the best - really wish I would of thought to of gotten one that showed the whole car at a 3/4 birds eye view.. that is when it is the most noticeable

Yea is is the same inside and out.. fiberglassin is easy if you have the patince and a good plan before you start./.. tryin to "wing" it is the worst thing you can do

that depends on what your trying to do... its usally best if your tring to make an opening or something to make that peice 1st before you do any cutting or anything.

like say you wanted to make an opening for a front airdam... I would 1st take a mold of the area you wanted to have the opening at.

Then I would make a replica piece of that area and make my scoop into that. then I would trim down the excess around the scoop opening.. I would leave 1-2 inches all around it so that can be smoothed into the existing front.

Then I place the scoop onto the front and mark where it is. then I would start cutting making sure that I didnt cut too large... you can always cut more off if you have too but if you cut too much then its gonna get hard to do.

once it fits in there nice you have to adhere it to the front.. if you are doing this to an aftermarket front odds are its fiberglass and will be easy to make it work.. just glass the back of it(where you wont see) to get them to bond together...then do a light layer on the visiable side and start smoothing it down. Take your time and use common sense. Once its nice and smoothed down you will need to use body filler to get all the small airpockets and stuff out to there.. basically mix it up.. spread it over the fiberglass and let it dry. then sand it all down agian. at this time you might want to try using a gelcoat or other finishing for strength but not nessacary. You will want to primer it and seal the primer. then all it needs is paint and your done.
