If only someone somewhere someday would actually succeed and document a full AWD conversion smile.gif

Loser! Good for nothing, can't even make a functioning AWD car. Can't believe you. Haven't you looked at your username in a while? It says NEVERSTOP. As in.. NEVER STOP. Like what you do when you think you're going to give up on something, you say, "what am I doing, I can't do this!", and all of the sudden, this little voice inside your head says "I AM NEVERSTOP! HEAR MY ROAR!", and you keep working! Don't you dare leave this car FWD.. it'd be an embarrassment both to your car, and to your name. You wouldn't want that, now would you?

you see all those words you used, i can say the same **** in just 3 words...

Lmao guys.. I'm just messin' with him. I think his car is badass and he can change it however he wants. I'm no mechanical guy, I'll never have an AWD Celica, but it's entertaining to poke fun at the people that are more likely to possibly attain one.

Neverstop, all in good humor ;)

LMAO!

I actually though it was pretty funny - thats exactly my type of humor wink.gif

a little clarification to the newer members and those who just havent looked at my profile - when I 1st got my 3sgte I purchased the driveshaft and all rearend parts out of a GT4. When I put the motor in the 1st time I tried using the 3sgte tranny without the rearend hooked up, basically had a bar welded in to hold the rear transfer... that didnt work at all so me and a couple friends intalled the rearend - this didnt realy consist of a whole lot... had to get a fuel cell to get the stock gas tank outta the way and do a little cutting to the floor panels to make it all fit. mounting its wasn't too much of a problem the exhaust had to be moved and had to do a little welding (my buddy who is a hydrolic expert did the welding for me cuz at the time I had no clue how to weld) it worked and ran fine for the most part but at high speeds the car would pull really bad to the side, an alignment helped with this some but it would go right back out as soon as I got over 120mph a couple of times. I am not sure if this was due to poor installation (which it prolly was) or damaged/warpped parts (rear end was out of a wrecked GT4 so this might of contributed to it)

I ran it like this for a couple of months and decided I didnt like it that much and I didnt feel safe at all in it. When I decided to do a complete teardown of the car I decided that for me to reach my altimate goal (break 160mph) I would need to go back to FWD, granted I will have some traction issues but at least I will be able to control the vehicle wink.gif

I would not recommend doing this... if you want AWD on your celica then purchase a 5th gen or get your hands on a GT4 - prolly easier and more reliable. But I do feel that if this was done professionally it could work @ about 95% effficency, think there will always be slight alignment issues no matter who does it.. maybe if you had a newer 6th gen that didnt have ne body warp at all and got brand new GT4 parts you could get it to almost 100% - who knows confused.gif

Now I have made it a point to not even mention that this was done to my car for quite a while now because it caused way to much drama on the boards, I was unwilling at the time to post photos of the car, mostly cuz I didnt want neone to see what I was upto, but have kind of changed that thinking lately. I will try and dig up some photos of the rear end on it, I have moved twice since I did this and don't have a clue if I even have the photos nemore or where they are but I will look and if I find them will post them. For those on this board that don't believe I have done this.. and I know that there are some still out there - please don't mess up this thread with hate posts.. if you have something like that to say to me then IM,PM or EMAIL me with your comments - Thanks

well.... this weekend was horrible for me... 1st off the kit I got for my G/F's car is the wrong one.. its for a 5th gen.. the fenders fit fine though, 2nd the damn car wouldnt start - something wrong with the injectors not pulsing - oh well will figure that out next week.

Then I found out monday that the owner of the buisness I work at had a heart attack and died frown.gif

it really sucks.. he was like a father to me and was one of the people that inspired me to do some of the things I do with cars.

he will diffently be missed by alot of people here.

Sorry to hear about all your misfortune man, it definately sucks to lose someone close to you. But remember the good times and look ahead, it's hard to know where you're going if you don't stop looking in the rearview. Take care.

I thought about getting some kind of plaque made to honor him and mount it on my car somewhere... not sure where though or how I would have it look

LOL a year ago! actually im not really sure.. I know im farther along than I thought I would be but still have a ways to go.. the exterior is about 50% done now and the interior Im just gonna leave alone for now and stick with what I got and when the car is running I will go back to it and get nuts with it. the motor is basically done.. I need a e153 trans and halfshafts and im sure there will be some other things that will need to be replaced cuz its been sitting for soo long but well see. I would like to drive it sometime this summer or fall if possible

Yeah sorry to hear about your boss / friend.

On the topic of paint, I might've missed it but what colour are you going for? Also are you going to keep it clean, or are you gonna decal/stickerise it? smile.gif

thanks smile.gif

as for paint it will be kind of a greyish silver.. I just saw this yesterday and really like the color but need to know the paint code for it

user posted image

as for decal/stickers.. Im gonna do some small company logos and stuff on it but nothing flashy or nething like that... and they will be really close in color to the car so they wont stand out too bad, I want everything to be nice and lowkey on the car... kinda like when you look at it your like,"hmmm thats a cool car" and then you look closer and your like," OMG@! that car is crazy" kinda the 2nd look kinda thing biggrin.gif

Wow that is a nice color! I agree with you on the keep it low key idea.
I think that adding too much stickers sometimes usually takes away from the appearance of the car. Keeping it "decalless" makes people wonder what is actually "under the hood" or just keeps people guessing as to what was done to the car. Almost like a sleeper. hehe biggrin.gif
