You need the radiator and hoses to match the engine. If you have the GT the radiator, and I imagine the hoses, would work with the 3S engine. Though most people just go ahead and get an aftermarket radiator and hoses anyway.

No...

The GT or ST - The AT200, or ST202 radiators will not work with a 3sgte engine. They are to small. You need a ST205, or 50mm alum. radiator! With respectable hoses for said engine. The inlet and outlet on the rads are the same, but the location of the water necks on the engine are located in different areas.

You can use a ST205 rad on a 5sfe, or 7afe powered engine..just not the other way around.

Edit:

What engine are you swapping into your vehicle?

I see ST205 which is a 3sgte, and then I see a ST204 which I believe is a 3sge...makes a big diff.

ST204 is the 5sfe, but I will be swapping the ST205 into the AT200 (7afe). But I do have the ST205 front clip, which means I can just use the radiator from the clip for my swap right?

OOoooooook I'm on page now.

Yes you can use the rad from your clip, and hoses for the AT200 to ST205 swap. Same mount points, just the top brackets from the ST205 clip may be larger, requiring to use those.

Alright suhweet!!! Ok thats good news, now I also have a transmission question. Last summer I had a friend modify the ST205 Tranny to FWD. We removed the transfer case, replaced the differential with an MR2 differential, and added an adapter plate to cover up where the transfer case was originally. It theoretically "should" be FWD now. My only concern is if I can still use the ST205 Axles and hub along with the ST205 Brakes with this transmission or if their would be fitment issues with the car. I was told that it wasn't possible to use the ST205 tranny as a FWD, I'm wondering why. Modifying it was a pain in the @$$ and probably woulda been better to just get the E153 but since it's done I'd figure I'd just use it. Does anyone have any experience with this or know exactly why the GT four tranny isnt compatible?

When I was looking into doing the same thing, I've read somewhere it was done the way you are describing and would work for a short period, but eventually there is some point inside that fails everytime, and I have never been able to get a resolution on it. Basically, people with a large bit more knowledge then I have, were unable to complete the task, so I figured I wouldn't even try. Figured just go with whats tried in true..at least in the trans department. if the trans worked, the axles wouldn't be an issue and you could just use those...but I don't think the e154f is going to do FWD...I sold mine, and used the money for the swap =)

Someone else may be able to expand more in detail on that.

Just granny it with the 3S and you'll be fine. tongue.gif
