Ehh, the 3rd gen 3S-GTE made a twitch over 250hp at the flywheel. The 2nd gen 3S-GTE made 200hp at the flywheel. The 2nd gen you could find more easily in the states since it was used in the MR-2 Turbo and All-Trac, and you can get most parts from your local parts house. I seem to recall reading somewhere it was harder to swap in though with wiring and such. Easiest way to find one is through eBay. The price discrepancies could be for a variety of reasons:mileage, condition, completeness, and etc...

the 3sgte can handle alot more than that 250 though with some mods. either way its a hell of alot better then a 90whp 7a

so are yall saying the 3rd gen i shouldnt use past 250? I was thinking on putting some sort of cold air intake and a venom 400 performance chip would those attatchments overload the engine?(Im not much of an expert on this im relying mostly on my dads help installing)I want to get the most hp output possable, but im not sure exactly sure what will work with this kind of engine with the turbo n all.

No, I was saying that's what it made stock. Depending on what you do to it you can see 400hp and more out of it. I'd just worry about getting it to run in stock configuration first, then worry about doing modifications. Things like cold air would be fine to go ahead and do, as that's probably what you'll have to do anyway. Besides 250hp in a 2600 or so pound car is more than enough. Once you're used to driving that, then that's when you do your power mods.

If you don't have the time to read and go through the plethora of information in the sticky, you don't have the time to do an engine swap.

You do realize we have stickies for a reason right? Its really annoying to see the same question asked all the time when its been discussed over and over. If you don't have time to research, you don't have time to swap plain and simple. Its not like putting on an SRI or aftermarket manifold, you don't just buy a random motor off ebay and bolt it on. Messing up will cost you a lot of time, and even more money. Theres been a lot of trial and error, and members have spent a lot time writing how-tos and such to save all of us the agony of making their mistakes so the least you could do is give them a little respect and read what they've wrote, it can only help. Also LOL at your CAI and "superchip" bs piggyback system overloading the engine question. That right there should tell you to stop. This post has been edited by travisxcore: May 8, 2013 - 11:58 PM |
