So I'm looking to replace all 4 of my speakers in my Celica. The front has some excruciatingly bright Pioneer 3-ways, the rear has stock speakers, although 1 of them is giving me weird noises. Can anyone recommend me some speakers that aren't going to be painfully bright? I'm on a budget, not looking to spend more than $300 on the whole set of 4 - I'm planning to pick up two 8" Kicker subs and an amp in the near future also. So if anyone has any advice, I'll be glad to hear it. My headunit is a Pioneer DEH-44HD, which I'm also open to upgrading.

Edited for spelling.

They may not be exactly what you're looking for but I have the following:

Pioneer Premier D720C 6.5" Woofer/ 1.75" Tweeter Component Set (Fronts) - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12224_...-TS-D1720C.html
Pioneer Premier D702P 6.5" 2-Way Set (Rears) - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22430_...-TS-D1702R.html

The ones I've linked are non-Premier but basically the same speakers. I've had them about 4 years this month and they're pretty decent without an amp and sub supporting them so I'd assume they'll be plenty with what you're planning.

Those look pretty promising (especially the reviews that say the tweeter isn't super bright like many others). Did you have to do any cutting/drilling to get them mounted?

Actually it looks like those speakers are 60w RMS. My head unit puts out 22w RMS (x4). I may have to upgrade my head unit or get an amp to power the whole set.

I had to cut the old 8" speakers out of the door mounts (as you have to with most aftermarket speakers unless you buy adapter rings) but the tweeters and rear speakers fit with no real modifications.

I'm running all of this off of a Pioneer Premier 510UB headunit.

I looked up these speakers and the top ones with the tweeters are discontinued. Also it links me to the 1720c not the 720c

Pioneer Premiers are absolutely amazing. I had Pioneer Premiers throughout a Tahoe a while back. The Premier line is all about the lows and mids. You WILL NOT be disappointed. Also, if you want to be extra sure, invest in an EQ - especially if you're upgrading the entire system.

Yeah, the Premier line (D720C, D702P, etc.) is discontinued at this point so you can only get the standard Pioneer versions (D1720C or D702R) of any of those speakers. I can only find the them online at prices much higher than what I paid for mine ~3 years ago.

I'm a fan of Hertz, Focal, and Polk. These are typically more money but the sound difference is night and day. I'd recommend you stick with what you have now and save for something that is better than the average best buy speaker.

Forgot about this topic, lol. Thanks for the input, everyone. I ended up picking up a 4-channel Alpine MRP-F300 amp, and a pair of Infinity Kappa 6.5's for the rear. I saw a lot of good reviews on those speakers, then after I bought them saw some reviews claiming they're too bright/harsh. Hopefully that's not the case, but if I don't like them there's a fair chance I can get someone to take them off my hands. I'm going to hopefully be installing it all tomorrow, and then with a few days of listening I'll look for the next steps to take.

Go for some cheap Kenwoods, they're normally gray.
