I was just thinking, although I didn't search much if this was covered before. How about a lightweight 2 piece top that uses clamps like the front bow of the vert to hold it down, i'm thinking 2 pieces so it can be taken down and stowed in the trunk when the top is off. I'm not looking to get crazy and have a self retracting hardtop (although that would be awesome) but something that will be a little less noisy in the wind and rain kinda best of both worlds kinda deal, I think the miata's have them as well as a few other cars. Has anyone attempted to make one for a vert celica?

The Miata has them, but the Celica doesn't as far as I know. For what it'd cost for a removable hardtop you could just pick up a Celica coupe.

think it might cost more then a few grand to make? the problem is I love having the top down, what I don't like is the excessive wind noise and rain noise when the top is up. buying a coupe only solves half the problem.

Well, considering you pay $1,000+ for a hardtop for the Miata... It'd cost a small fortune for the Celica IF someone were to make one. Hence you buy the coupe INSTEAD of the hardtop. Then you get the best of both worlds. A lot faster to hop into the coupe than remove the hardtop from the convertible anyway. tongue.gif
