Yo In the other thread (Whats the best turbo?) some people are mentioning that for the real higher end of turbos a t3/t4 or Garret GT28 is good.. When I search the forums for these, I get no results however
So first off, any "street" information I should know about these turbos? I've already searched google and gotten the usual results, so I'm looking for opinions, feelings, hands on knowledge or anything. Secondly, what else is required than whats required in the basic, low power install of a http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=5574 (5S-SFTE install howto on this site). I know some more of the internals need to be upgraded to handle the power of a t3 or above.. but what? Besides the fuel pump Also, any size differences? IE, is it actually physically possible to fit the t3/t4 turbo in there? Thanks! --Sean This post has been edited by shid: Feb 7, 2004 - 11:40 AM |

r you talkin about turboin the 5sfe? If you are then stick with the ct26... It will be more than enuf for the 5sfe.

Err, whats more than enough? In the other thread, it's described as "low boost/power." I don't mind having to save up for a bit, replace more parts and do more work, but I don't plan on spending money on a turbo to do it half heartidly (IE, low boost/power).
If I'm going to do this, I'm going to do this right, and spend the money and do the work I have to do to get the most out of my celi. (On that note tho, I DO plan on leaving my 5S-FE engine in there.. Switching the engine makes me feel dirty for some reason). I've also heard that the ct26 can't handle more than 10 psi of boost at the max, and I'd rather see what else is out there.. |

Yeah, the nice thing about the ct26 is that it bolts up to the 3sgte manifold. To run a t3 you'll also have to buy an adapter. The ct26 is also a twin entry turbo, which helps spoolup time on a 4cyl slightly.

i described the ct26 as low boost/power because that is all the 5sfe can take. the CR is on the high side and the stock fuel system is weak. unless you are going to rebuild the 5sfe for boost, the ct26 will suit you perfectly, or if you want a better turbo, the ct20 will bolt up. either way, you could put a t3 on there, or a t3/t4 hybrid, but you wont be anywhere near the efficiency ranges of those turbos. a ct26 setup is easy, it bolts right on with no changes needed(aside from maybe reclocking the turbo) -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
