What if you did this? This way any defects left behind will kind of flow into the shape of the car. I would pull off the panels and seat on the interior to determine what things that might get in the way. Never done this so I'm not sure what route is actually best.

You can probably sand blast the wheel well depending on how deep and how bad the rust is under that paint. As for the hole behind the mud flap that would need to get cut out and replaced.

Doesn't matter how good of a welder he is, its going to warp and will require bondo work. you're probably better off sanding all the rust down to bare metal then prime/paint.

That close up of the upper portion shows it definitely can be sanded down. Then cut and weld behind the mudflap. (pretty much what 83841 said!)

wouldnt even think about it for a second. this shell only has 90k miles on her. complete gt-four front end. the previous/original owner let the rust get like that. such a shame. full paint job is coming right after this anyway.

thats what im saying just a shell and move all over to the new shell, its getting painted anyways.

cancer always comes back, if you have that rust thats visible, imagine how much rust thereis u cant see. check the strut towers, there was a member with strut tower cancer.

before you get it painted, just make sure thats the only rust u have. hate for you to spend all that money and find out that

I know someone with a Curren that had their rear quarter panel replaced after an accident, so its possible to get it done. And you wouldn't even notice it had been done.

Until a couple years later....Rust will always come back, even if you replace it with new quarters. I dont care how good people weld this together, if you drive it in the winter itll come back. Ive seen it on cars here in Minnesota. You cant cure cancer, PERIOD!

This.
You can prolong the period before it comes back, but it will come back.
Hence, Cancer.
