Had some issues with the car when I got it here, had a bit of vibration so I took it in to Toyota.

Initial Diagnostics.

Needs a new boot on the front left cv shaft.
Replaced the Hub bearing on front left.
All rotors out of spec. So 4 new rotors
Said they can't release the pins for the calipers.
So 4 caliper mounts and pins.

3k????????

this includes pads, smile.gif lmao
and a coolant flush.

I have two celicas sitting at the house besides the one in the shop. So technically I can pull all the **** off of them and fix it myself, just don't have the time. I have the money, the question is am I being over charged. I don't like getting screwed. Thought I would toss this out there to the car gods of 6gc.

I worked for a Toyota dealership (in parts, not service). When I needed a new clutch I decided that I would just have the job done there because I knew everyone. The estimate was about 600$ which I thought was fair for the going shop rate of a dealer. After I dropped the car off they called me back and told me that it was actually going to be $1,500 because I had a turbo and they would have to remove the entire turbo to do the clutch job.

They just flat out make stuff up to anyone and everyone.

Not being able to release 4 caliper slides it totally bull****.

My local dealer argued with me that a part I wanted didn't exist.
It did exist, overseas and according to them "we don't have access to other countries parts", yet the dealer in another state said they would gladly get it but it would be costly...
I took this information into the local dealer, and again they said I was making it up and the part was non existant..
The part in question was the Tundra Clear Courtesy Lights

They didn't lie to you about that.
USDM dealers only have access to USDM parts catalogs and warehouses. So there is no way to look up a certain version of the part that was only sold overseas.
However, if you have a part number they can check to see if this "import" part happens to be in the main Toyota warehouse. Sometimes these import parts happen to be sitting in the USA warehouses and they will send it over. Thats how we are able to get GT4 hoods/Bumpers though the local dealer.

Lithia Toyota is the only dealership in the USA that seems to have established some type of connection with another dealership in Japan that goes beyond what a normal dealer can do. This is how they can look up and order things that are not in the USA warehouses or USA parts catalogs.

I had said to the dealer the part number, and what it was... They just didn't want to spend some time helping me...
The guy in Melbourne (I don't live in the US) was straight forward and said that he can get the parts, but it will be a lot dearer than what a local US resident can get..
The local Toyota dealer also said they cannot get parts for my Celica, and claimed that they weren't even made anymore, which the Melbourne dealer said was a lie... I have the local dealer a very bad review...
