Is there any way that I could use a different distributor for my 5sfe motor. I've had nothing but problems out of the ignition coil being inside of the distributor which is something that is completely new to me and I would like to know if there is any alternative aftermarket or a modification. I wouldn't mind shelling out cash to do it, just don't have any ideas because I don't really know anything about the electricals in our cars or in any of these "newer" cars.

What sort of problems? +1. Coil inside of dist. cap is nothing new. GM was doing the HEI thing in the '70's. I had a problem with my daughter's 5sfe coil. It cracked when the distributor decided to unwind it's copper wiring inside, but I don't blame it on the coil. Maybe you've had issues that seemed related to the coil, but in fact involved something else? After the distributor incident, I put a junkyard distributor in with a Napa coil and it's been good since. This post has been edited by seanb: Jul 13, 2013 - 1:09 AM |
