First you have a couple of questions to ask: 1. How much money do you have to spend? 2. Will you do all the work involved yourself? 3. How much power are you expecting to get? Once you answer those, you can start evaluating your options. If you don't have much money, you'll be better off with a low-powered OEM setup. That consists of an OEM 3SGTE Turbo, Manifold, Downpipe, Oil Lines, Crankcase, MAP Sensor, Supra 315cc injectors and something like the APEX'i SAFC-II or similar. Aside from that you'll need intercooler, piping and a 2.5-3" exhaust to make the most out of it. You can expect at most close to 200whp with a decent tune. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

not to thread jack, but from what i've been observing, it seems that the toyota i4's are fairly interchangeable. such as with exhaust manifolds, mounts, ect. am i correct? i myself have been setting my eyes on power upgrades. swaps are nice, (3sgte, 1mz, seem uber cool) but after pricing everything out i feel like i would do best to exercise the 5sfe's 2.2l's of low end torque and hang a snail off the manifold to supplement the lack of top end. its seems that 5sfe's respond to being under pressure pretty well.

That is partially true. Most parts from most older, same-series engines (4age and 7afe are bost a-series for example) are interchangeable.
The 5sfe actually makes more power with the stock turbo than the 3sgte does. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

there are full threads with lots of great info on turboing both the 5s and 7a, i made 300+ whp on a stock bottom end 5s, just a matter of building and tuneing it right. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

If you want that much power you better have the know how or some deep pockets my friend. For that kind of power you may want to look into building a 5sgte, all of the info is there. I suggest you do some research before you start anything serious, many of the swaps and boosted cars on here have months of research before them.
