I just did a small pull in first, hit 7k rpm, jacked it in 2nd and suddenly I hear this weird noise that goes in pace with the rpm. The higher the rpm the louder it gets. I didn't see anything extraordinary under the hood, so I'm really not sure what it can be... Transmission? Clutch? What? frown.gif
Hoping for quick responses from those who got some tips.

Well you see, your first problem is when you went 1k over the REDLINE. Does the sound happen with the car in neutral with it being revved?

My redline starts at 7k (3SGE powered <3) tongue.gif But I hear the sound on both neutral/idle and when revving

Ahh ok, I see ST202 and immediately think our GT with the 5S. So sorry for that one. Being you hear it in neutral as well that means it's something in the engine... Also since it's in time with the rpm you're probably looking at something in the valve-train or rotating assembly. Is the sound a higher pitched ticking, or lower pitched thudding?

Here is a quick vid I just shot. You can hear the "clicking" noise in the background. Best example at the very last seconds of the video

Sounds like valve-train noise to me. Almost reminds me of when my 3000GT ended up with a stuck lifters/valves. It blew all of the oil out the back of it and starved the top of the motor. Have you checked the oil since? Odds are the oil level got low, that or perhaps the oil pump gave out and starved the top of the motor.

Watched it a second time and I see that your oil light is on, that's probably exactly what happened...

It's not an oil level light, it's an oil pressure light. Which means insufficient oil pressure, which means bad oil pump, which means trashed valve-train...

Just talked to a friend og mine and he is close to 100% certain that it is one of the valves that is pretty much dead.
When we fired up the engine to hear, I revved it a little and the sound is soooo much worse now.
Hoping to have it fixed soon, but I am short on cash now that I am going on vacation for a week and just resently paid for SS-III splitters, side skirts and paint.

That's what I was afraid of. Just don't forget to replace the oil pump in the middle of all of it so it doesn't happen again.

If you find a good machine shop and do the rest of the work yourself it shouldn't be too terribly expensive.

From what can be told from the video he only trashed the valve-train, as all of the oil would've been in the crankcase at the time it happened anyhow. Should be able to rebuild/replace the head and oil pump and be ok.
