How to get to your fuel pump, Fuel pump Options

So after my minor breakdown whilst i was tearing much of my car apart I took pictures of how to remove your fuel pump which is a lot easier than I had believed it to be so hopefully this helps someone down the road

So first of all you'll have to remove your seats, surprisingly there are only 4, 12mm bolts holding the upper portions of the seats on, located at the very bottom when you fold your seat down, they'll be easy to get to once you lift up the carpet covering them, there are 2 on each side of the folding portions of the seats

So once the 4 bolts have been removed the upper seat cushions literally slide right off, the lower seat cushions are only held in place by 2 small hooks that go into these sockets


once the rear seats are removed you'll see the access panel for the fuel pump it has 4 small Phillips head screws holding it down

oh and don't forget to look for loose change under your seats while your at it

Moving on you'll see the fuel pump bracket, connector and fuel lines under the access panel be sure to disconnect the electrical connector to give you more room to work


For the rubber return line you can just use a small set of channel locks to remove the clamp and slide it off, but for the other fuel line with the fittings you'll need a 19mm open end wrench and a 14mm flare nut wrench



If your unlucky like me and your fittings are pretty rusted then get a can of this stuff, PB penetrating catalyst or some other penetrating oil

I covered the electrical connector with a rag so as not to get any penetrating oil in it and I basically drenched the nut every couple of minutes before going at it again


Once the fitting is off you can take off the small bolts surrounding the fuel pump bracket, they're 8mm with a phillips head so you can break them loose with a socket and take them off easily with a screwdriver or however you want

And with the fuel lines out of the way and the bolts off the whole assembly will come out fairly easily and you can check your pump and strainer, sorry but I forgot to get pictures of the pump itself haha
