Hey guys I upgraded my speakers with pioneers, 1 inch tweeters are still stock, the 4 inch top speaker on door are pioneers, 6.5 in back are pioneers. I just ordered 8 inch 400 or 450 watt 8 inch speakers, the speakers weren't a problem at all, now I want to do a double din pioneer head unit, I need to know if I have to buy the plastic for it to go in like a single head unit needs... The celica 8 speaker runs on 2 amps, I found the metra adaptor for the amps to be used te double din head unit I will be using has 2 RCA plugs the adaptor has 4 I need all 8 speakers to work so I need install help I found a forum with info but want to wire everything perfectly and need to know if the head unit I'm buying has 2 and the adaptor has four if it will work or not thanks any feedback will help

You should wire the door subs to either the RCA speaker output or the sub output. The tweeters and 4" speakers are tied together so it's technically just one channel.
I'll double check how mine is wired in once I put it all in tomorrow haha Do you still have the stock head unit? if so, how much would you want for it? |

Read it wrong. If you only have 2 RCA outs from the radio (left and a right), they are most likely only for a subwoofer output. My radio has 3 sets of RCA outputs. One for the front, one for the rear, and one for subwoofers.

So if I don't run subs will it power all speakers? The adaptor from metra for the 8 speaker celica has 4 RCA, so basically how many RCA should I need for the oem 8 speaker to run with the oem amps? And so if I want to run subs ill need more? Just trying to find out info so I can run it or is there a RCA splitter where you can run 2 off of 1 RCA input? I just need some help because I want a new head unit and thanks bro
Still have stock head unit but keeping all my oem parts just for future purposes... I'm not selling parts sorry man |

The headunit im buying has 2 rca outputs, meaning a set of 2 of 2 so 4 rca total but I bought the wire harness metra 70-8112 so it has 4 of them im not sure if the rca on those go into the headunit or if the go into stock amp? never taken my celica apart to see it until I get the parts in mail, anyways there is another head unit im thinking of buying that has 2 sets of 3 and 2 sets of 2 but its 150 more... I really want the double din pioneer fh-x700bt or the pioneer 1400 dvd one

Well I just got mine wired up!
It's simple once you figure it all out. The adapter has 2 sets of RCA's. One for the front and one for the rear. You have to find the Front and Rear LEFT channel and plug those into a Y connector. That Y connector plugs into the Front Left RCA output. Same thing goes for the right side. You take the Front and Rear RIGHT channels and plug them into a Y connector. Then plug them into the Front Right RCA output. (You lose the front and rear fader, but no one uses that anyway.) Most radios come with 2 sets of RCA preamp outputs, and it has a front output and a rear / sub output. I tried to get the rear / sub to work properly on mine, but there was only bass from the speakers, no high or mids. That's why I used the Y connector so that everything is coming out the front RCA outputs, it gives you the full range. Also, there is a red wire and yellow wire on that adapter piece you just bought and on the wire clip from the radio. As you know, you'll splice them together, but you'll need to add a third wire to each one. The 3rd wire for the red wire (which is the Acc wire) will need to get spliced into the Grey wire that goes to the cigarette lighter. The 3rd wire for the yellow wire (which is the constant) will need to get spliced into the Blue / White wire that goes to the clock. I'm not sure why, but if you don't add that 3rd wire into both wires, the radio will not turn on at all. And I have to fix a ground issue because I'm getting wines with the RPM's. I'll have to figure that out tomorrow. This post has been edited by mkernz22: Aug 28, 2013 - 11:39 AM |

I wired my 8 inch today here's the bad all my speakers are running on 1 amp, tried connection to second amp for 8 inch and bam no sound so I had to tie my 8 and 4 inches together and the power them to one amp, so my question now is if I buy a aftermarket amp to replace my factory amp will it work? I can then run subs and ect and won't need the metra 70-8112 even though its on way in mail... I was like wtf!!!

I just put my panels back on but I can tell you how to do it it's not really that hard, now of I can take out both amps since I'm only using one then use 1 aftermarket one and then another aftermarket for subs this will hit extrely hard and do you have aftermarket speakers yet for even the 8 inch?
