So I have a 99 stock Celica gt I just got a 3d gen 3sge with full wiring uncut I was wondering web I swap this motor do I need to sauter or slice and wire anything or it all bolts in even the wiring?
Also do we use the oem 5sfe fuse box or the new 3sge fuse box? I'm currently tuning up the motor new timing belt water pump etc. Motor came with exhaust manifold but no b pipe does the stock 5sfe Exhaust manifold bolt on? Just for temporary use? Any advice from anyone please Ive been googling and searching threads but found nothing for 3d gen swap not beams. What do I have to modify? Do I need to convert a fuel filter or bracket? The fuel lines are uncut on the motor I got only thing seems to be cut is the shifter cables and axels |

my advise, sell that engine and swap in a V6. you are in Kalifornia and it will never pass SMOG.
advise #2, read the stickies, all your questions have been answered 100 times before -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

there is no stickies for 3rd gen 3sge swap only beams. even beams swaps are not stickied you have to dig around. you have to read 3sgte swap threads is what he means. most of your answers concerning basics are there.

As with any JDM(RHD) motor into your USDM(LHD) celicas, from what I've seen other members do, you need to:
extend the wiring harness to reach the hole in the firewall or make or use another hole I'm not 100% sure about the 5sfe exhaust manifold fitting the 3S-GE head in terms of bolt pattern and also clearance under the sump Have a look at KAOS and czwalga project threads. The 3S-GE swap is pretty close to the beams, but with the need for the white 9,000rpm cluster or modded cluster, but would suggest getting the black 9,000rpm cluster for yours. -------------------- |

I used my stock cluster without a problem. Harness needs to be extended about 2-3 feet. Around 60 or so wires. My harness was cut, so I pretty much merged a 5sfe and 3sge harness together taking what i need from where. I've made 3 different b-pipes, and broke them all. Damn skid plate is bubbled and keeps coming up and cracking it. ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by czwalga: Sep 9, 2013 - 6:00 PM -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

Damned the hydraulic tensioner is a pain... Anyways while I was impacting off the cam gears they moved a tooth both to the left web I put the belt back together do I have to worry about the timing or a tooth might not even matter? Since they both moved a tooth back

The harness has to be extended. There's 6 or 7 connectors where the ECU goes to. 4 go to the ECU the others go to the body connectors. So yeah the harness does kinda have to be extended to go down there. Yeah you could do something crazy to not half to extend all of it, but that would be harder on the brain than just extending the harness.
The part you have to be concerned about is the fuse box area... even if its not cut I doubt everything just snaps together perfectly. Buy the green book for our cars on ebay for the electrical manuals. It's like $20. Well worth it, won't tell you everything because it doesnt have 3sge info in it but you can piece it together. Wiring doesnt scare me though, and the toyota books have the best electrical schematics i've seen. Nice and colored. Damned the hydraulic tensioner is a pain... Anyways while I was impacting off the cam gears they moved a tooth both to the left web I put the belt back together do I have to worry about the timing or a tooth might not even matter? Since they both moved a tooth back Set the timing, start from scratch. Even one tooth it may not idle. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

ok wll the problem is the motor wasn't set to tdc when the timing belt was removed but it was timed. now is it possible to put the belt back on then set the crank to tdc and the cam obviously will spin with It but it will be a tooth off and then adjust the cam timing? or even a tooth off and the motor will make contact with the piston and valve? hand spun not crank the motor.

If you don't want to take the time to reset your timing the right way now that you threw it off by at least a tooth you might as well scrap the whole project because this shows how much effort you really wanna put into it

A tooth off wont cause cause valve damage. I'm pretty sure the 3sge is a non-inteference engine. BEAMS may be interference, but not the 3rd gen. So no matter what happens your engine should not kill itself.
Just take the belt off and follow the normal timing belt install procedure. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

Checked my timing belt replacement guide and the 1st and 2nd gen 3S-GE are non-interference, so one would be led to believe that'd be the case for the 3rd gen as well.
