I was getting sick of the V6 vs Beams / 3rd gen smack talk too..... except I thought most of it was going the other direction any time any new member wanted to do a 3S swap.... Anyway, ditto to the comments above, everybody has their own reasons for their choices and they should be respected. For me, I live in a RHD country and I like OEM so a BEAMS swap is on my agenda (unless I track down a st205... ) as it is a straight bolt-in job essentially and I don't have any mechanical experience. And here old engines like the 1MZ go for crazy money still anyway, so it is easiest to source engines straight from Japan. That being said though, I would love to feel a V6 powered 6GC too. If you want to take a break, go do that.... all the more time to concentrate on your car! We'll still be here when you come back (....... And you will ) -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |

...You should be the biggest defender of the 1m, you're one of the few guys on the board that's actually driven one in a Celica. agree to the letter. you know... I have driven in Celica: 7afe 7afte 3sge (3gen) 3sgte (stock and tuned) and also Beams I can compare them. But never any V6. And probably never will... Kurt, I understand more than anyone how it is to be one against 1000. Because of this I left in CZ club I started. When I tried to return it was triple times worse so I left permanently. So break will not resolve anything. As I wrote I driven a lot but never V6. That is why you will never hear from me a word against V6. I simply do not have inputs. Just can say something like ''7afte is much better to drive than beams''. And can you guess how many people here would agree and how many disagree? I hope you get the point. Keep your head up and drive your car proudly. You built it and you should be proud. From when I was more active on this site I can't remember two cars that were exactly the same which is awesome. Personally, I kno nothing about the v6 or beams but either way if you are putting the work in you deserve to be proud. Like everything this site has its good and bad and if your finding the bad outweighs the good maybe sometime off won't hurt. I found myself to be very active years ago and for personally reasons I started coming back to the forum less and less. Now I am active for a lil then I'm off for a little. I have to say every time I come back the dynamics feel a little different. I do find most people are very positive and have been pushing me which is amazing. Do what's best for you. You deserve it.

pretty much, if you're not swapping in a 3sgte, you'll get criticism.
no matter what people say, it's always your car, do it your way I've even been thinking about some NON toyota swaps. I would love to see that and stir some more things up. !!!!! -------------------- *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

I tend to just head first an heart an soul into things an when people start talking down about it I tend to take it to heart. I'm very proud of my own work. But coming on here an reading I've just built an out of date pos motor that's only good to pull around a soccer moms mini van hurts. I'd expect comment like that on a Honda site but not here. Sorta like the out of date pos motor that's only good for pulling around a soccer mom's mini SUV or station wagon? Come on Kurt, just consult with me for comebacks. Both of you are right I should be the one defending the 1mz the most But its hard to stick up for yourself in a 1000/1 fight Way to forget Smaay and myself. Sorry box I didn't mean to forget you two lol You both defend the 1mz when you can -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Both of you are right I should be the one defending the 1mz the most But its hard to stick up for yourself in a 1000/1 fight Way to forget Smaay and myself. yeah you know i got your back! QUOTE out of date pos motor that's only good to pull around a soccer moms mini van i dont think anyone has ever come out and said that, if they did and i saw it i would have jumped all in their business. That is a horrible statement to make, yeah so what the 1MZ and 3MZ came in a Sienna, in fact mine came from an 05 Sienna. But ill be happy to go toes to toe with anyone and show them what moms minivan power plant can do. the 2GR came in a camry, and it also comes in a freaking Lotus!!!! so just because the MZ came in a mommy car, doesnt mean it shouldnt get some respect. I have yet to see anyone posting dynos of their swaps like i have. or put as much effort and time in their swaps like WE have I dont know if any other thread with as much information as mine and Kurts Sorry I did forget you two You always have my back I've done the best I can to make every detail of my v6 swap known Good an bad! Just as you have done too. It will be a long time before the v6 swap gets covered in as good of detail as ours. -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Kurt; even though I've never driven in a V6 swapped 6Gen, I'm still very inspired by your swap.
I think on FB someone was trash talking my build and I was just like, "0.o - ok, whatever dweeb". Smack talking about how they could do the swap for less than $2k including the engine, blah blah. Sure, ok, maybe if you buy the engine and swap it in right away without redoing seals, etc first. Good for you! And good luck getting at any of that stuff when the engine is in the car 1500 miles down the road when something starts spurting oil... lol. I didn't/don't care - my build is for me. My build is my learning experience. My build was achievable/feasible with the budget I had set aside. Its still my DD, I wanted something reliable, with some more HP for when I want to have some fun. I'm not looking to set records here... I also have plans BEYOND my build too, so I'm making sure my platform is built properly so it can support my future endevors. And as someone who's driven a BEAMS swapped 6GC (Outsider's swap, one of the original swappers, I think) - It was a tremendous inspiration for my rebuild/swap! I have always been a fan of the unique. I'm pretty sure my final set up will be very unique. But like I said; I'm not looking to set records or anything, I just want to be unique/original. I have mad respect for anyone who decides to take the path less traveled. This post has been edited by KAOS: Sep 30, 2013 - 11:27 AM -------------------- |
