Very sporty.
and do tell us if you ever find A dragon badge to replace the Toyota badges. I thought that would be sweet too, just need to find somebody who can make them. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

bout time you gave us an update. and a good one too. ![]() I know, was going through another period of rather I was going to keep it or not. I couldn't find a suitable buyer, and those that were didn't want to travel. Indeed, it's funny how much better it makes it. Which stock isn't bad either, it's just now it's tighter and more precise. I'm also happy to say the factory knob is weighted enough to work with the short throw kit too. Very sporty. and do tell us if you ever find A dragon badge to replace the Toyota badges. I thought that would be sweet too, just need to find somebody who can make them. Indeed, really the finishing touch to complete the sporty feel. Now the cup-holders really are useless. ![]() I have found some before, but I hesitated on buying them and regret it. Is this kit available? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Short-Throw-Shifte...64f&vxp=mtr That's the same one I have. I was lucky and found a wholesaler that was down to their last one, I sent in a smart ass offer of $20 shipped and by surprise they accepted it. Definitely worth it for $20. I have a 25% off any Magnaflow product on Amazon and still get my free shipping, so HEAVILY considering redoing the exhaust now. I cleaned and greased everything well, so should be good for another 190K miles.
![]() In other news I already bought an exhaust tip. $10 shipped when they're usually $30 shipped, go me! Now it's just a matter of picking out the muffler, thinking will go Magnaflow XL. A straight through would be cheaper, but I want it to not sound like a Honda. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I figure if you like it, it's got to be decent lol. Adding to a must have Such high remarks, I'm flattered. It's definitely worth it, it made a bigger difference than I thought it would. So I'm pretty much going to go with the Magnaflow XL I believe. I can get it for $42 and some change shipped to my door. My plan is to put it in the place of the secondary catalytic converter and then run out straight pipe from there to the end utilizing what factory piping I can to reduce cost. All in all with labour I should be right at $100 or less. The cat scraps for $90 or so the last I checked, but I'd try selling it first for more. Why the Magnaflow XL, because it's chambered. Why so far up in the exhaust stream, to have more of an effect on the sound. Worked out great for the Genesis, so should work out for the Celica as well. I can't help but wonder how clogged that cat is with 193K miles on it, should see some marginal gains. If anything I'm doing it more for the MPG, that and it'd be nice to be able to hear my car running. The blower motor is louder than the exhaust... -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The ones I found were $20 shipped for the pair, I was just going to use the nicer of the two and sell the other.

Now only if you had any horsepower to use it with ![]() It's enough to do rolling burnouts with, through first gear anyway. Besides, I've decided to just keep it as my fuel saver which the 7A excels at. Thinking will find a MKIII with a BHG and drop in a 1UZ. Just ordered this for the car:
https://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd...in&id=11609 Got it for $42 shipped to my door, so kind of hard to pass up. I'll drop the secondary cat and put that in its place, remove the resonator and factory muffler and then just have to figure out where I want it to exit with the tip. I bought a dual tip so either more or less in the stock position or maybe some kind of side exit. Will figure it out eventually as it'll be a little while before I get it all done. Hell, the muffler isn't supposed to be here until the end of the next week anyway. Anyhow, it'll be something that hasn't been done before so that's exciting for me. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Nope dry pavement, rev it up and dump the clutch. It'll chirp going into second if you really push it. I only do it when I'm in a hurry(i.e. don't feel like waiting on 20 cars to go by), or pissed off due to some idiot. Besides that's not the point of the car, the point is to get 36-40 mpg which it does without fail when I'm not doing the above. It's not like I'm some Honduh kid saying my 12 second to 60 Civic is fast. To me fast is 5 or less to 60, 5-7 to 60 is quick, 7-9 is adequate, and anything more I rather get out and walk.
Yeah, I rather find a blown turbo though for the LSD and lower final ratio. That and you get the better R154. Sure I could source them, but it'd just be easier for it all to be there already. MKIII with a 1UZ covers all of my needs in a car that's not a Corvette. If I'd stop spending money on music gear I could get a project together. It's sad I have more invested in musical instruments than I do my car. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The link you gave for the short throw was for a 7th gen. Are they interchangeable? Sorry for my ignorance.

They are. In fact the the shifter is the same all the way from the 4th to 7th gen, just small things here and there about the kit that're different. Only difference between the 6th and 7th gen kit is that the 7th gen comes with the shifter assembly bushings. Which can be, AND SHOULD BE, used as well. Much better than the soft rubber nonsense.
