This may be a noob question, but what makes the JDM SS-2 (3sge) model more powerful than the UK GT model with the same engine?

If I was hazard a guess it will be that it's mapped to a higher grade fuel.

The UK 96+ facelift have EGR and from memory slightly different extractors which is why they're down. But even the prefacelift is down a few HP from ECU tune.
Toyodiy shows same part numbers for camshafts & different part numbers for ecu's. -------------------- |

Well its a combination of reasons but the 2 biggies are
-higher octane fuel -Different countries have there own standards on how an engine is rated, for example just in the USA there is the old ASE and new ASE standards. New ASE for factory hp rating, the newer standard requires that all accessories be running where the old standard did not. |
