I have recently found a modded 3sgte engine from a 93 MR2 for sale
with the following aftermarket parts: forged pistons and rods cams with HKS adlustable cam gears aftermarket valves and springs 750ml injectors He also sells a cusco twin plate clutch. The seller asks 1500 euros for the engine and 800 euros for the clutch kit I know the price is good but I'm afraid of buying an engine I haven't seen that actually works. A st205 3sgte engine with guarantee would cost me 1000 euro instead. Please tell me your opinions and what kind of power such a motor is capable. Here are some pics |

looks nice on the outside, its the inside that you have to be worried about. The price is good, if it cranks over by hand and you can feel the compression, then go for it. I would still tear it down and inspect everything.

Built and in good condition, the 1500 euros for the engine sound good. Especially with HKS goodies and other things. However I see no turbo on it, so expect around $700 for a stock turbo setup or more for an aftermarket setup.
The twin plate clutch is at a decent price but I'd get a new clutch kit instead. -------------------- 1993 Celica GT Coupe - sold

I'd probably spend a little extra and get a 3rd gen 3sgte. Much better for power.

I am thinking of something bigger than stock turbo. That's why this engine caught my eye. Why would you reject the twin plate clutch? I thought these kind of clutches last more than the regular ones. I'd probably spend a little extra and get a 3rd gen 3sgte. Much better for power. I was thinking that this engine would be good for 300-350 whp. Something like 400+ at the crank. I will be fully satisfied with tese numbers. Do you thing that this 2nd gen motor is going to have problems handling this power? I know a 3rd gen is a better motor but how much more would it cost me to built it with these specs? Thank you all for your answers! |
