Regarding the ignition switch - is it possible to remove it without pulling the steering wheel and shaft assembly?
Can it be opened to see the contacts - it is an intermittent problem, so testing by the Toyota manual will not be conclusive? Thanks!

yes remove the plastics around the wheel and under the gauges and you can see the ignition stalk

Which brand should I get? Does OEM make a difference in this case?
